338-06 225 gr Accubond. Mild recoiling and seems to drop elk alright
6.5x55 160 gr woodleigh. Or 140gr partition. Stupid accurate. Nothing seems to stand once they are hit
223 69 gr scenars. Yotes don't go far no matter the distances

#1 303 British
#2 9.3x72R
#3 280 Remington
#'s 1 and 2care just because, I don't make a habit of hunting with them
As far as my reasoning g for picking the .303 Brisih goes, so it does everything I need it to do with a 150 grain Barnes TSX with one shot and everything dies within feet of where I shoot it.

My go to rifle is my 7mmstw, as it has been since around 1990. I have always liked the .284" bore and I like higher velocity. My deer/pronghorn and backup rifle is a 6.5PRC. I like the 6.5mm for smaller game, and the PRC makes good velocity, with great accuracy.

Moose and bears .338WM, 225gr Nosler Partition.
Whitetail/Mule deer .30-06, 180gr Hornady BTSP for 'open' country, in the timber .45-70, 350gr or 400gr jacketed bullets (Hornady, Woodleigh, Hawk doesn't much matter).
Walk-about 'bear defense' rifle, Winchester M-94 in .375Win with 220 Woodleigh Weldcore, which are designed for .375H&H velocity, I file the points flat, load them to 1900fps for max penetration.

.338 Federal 200 gr Trophy Bonded Tip
7mm08 140 gr TSX or Partitions
.300 WM 180 gr TSX
Not that I use the 300 anymore, the other two cover everything nicely in lighter rifles with less recoil.

Has never disappointed in quick kills or accuracy.
Have always wanted to try a partition but have yet to.

caliber choices
375 HH. Good for anything around the world and usually drops elk and moose very substantially!
30-06. Boring, accurate, and ammo available anywhere around the globe for a mid-weight gun. Huge array of bullet weights available for those of us who reload. ultimately good for any game in North America.
22-250. The best all-around predator rifle handling a variety of bullet weights. Reaches out with more authority to long ranges on those stubborn coyotes that hold up just on the edge of your comfort range. You should only witness the carnage this caliber can perform on a mound of gophers!

I'd be happy with a 6.5 or 7mm in a 308 or 7x57 sized case, it'll do what needs doing when I need it done, use a good bullet like a Barnes or Partition or bonded. No real need for a magnum cartridge sized case, PRC, WSM, etc.
20 ga shotgun will do what needs doing.
.22lr will cover a lot of needs.

If I had to stick with 1, it would be the 300 bee
