One of the things that concerns me is we haven't seen any dominant wins. Like it always seems to be close/come from behind. I get that they have to play that way in the playoffs, but I would like to see them steam roll a team every once in a while.

It a funny thing about Oilers fans. Whether the team is winning or losing, they are doing it wrong .

Nice to see them putting LV in the rear view mirror. Hope it continues. Tonight should be a good one, but they'll be meeting a ****ed off Pitsburg team after they folded in the 3rd last night. At least both teams are on a back-to-back...

Looked like the team that had the winning streak before the all star break, fast and won 80% of the puck battles, good goal tending and team defense, balanced scoring, nice to watch again........... keep it rolling boy's down the stretch we go

The win today was in my mind one of the best… because it was a hard fought game… tight score and needed full team participation plus outstanding play from outstanding players.

So when I think ahead to potential Stanley cup run, I’m getting more and more convinced desire to step it up three notches is possible.

Nuge with two potentially game saving backchecks in a row. Oil are up to their old ways like they did in the 16 game win streak. Have allowed 7 goals in the last 5 games.

Another amazing Nuge play. And how many times have the Oil actually tied it up with the goalie pulled? Great ending to that one.

Looks like they gave up on defence and added scoring to the bottom 6 or janmark from the top 6.
Whatever……….
Hellbent on steam rolling with scoring.

Only gave up 5 goals in the last 7 games. They're learning that team defence does work. I like the way they didn't panic last night. Played hard till the buzzer.

Still have time for a defenceman if the right trade presents itself.

they are only paying 25% of henriques salary and 50% of carricks. i beleive they still have some room to add a depth defenceman.

They already spent their 1st round pick. I am thinking Bourgault or Broberg will be in play for player like David Savard from Montreal.

I don't see that happening, at least I sure hope not. I don't think Broberg in particular is going anywhere.

Looking at the trade boards, there isn't a D man out there *that's available* that is a legit upgrade worthy of sending a Broberg type prospect out the door. Not in my opinion anyway, and especially not for a rental.

I would have sent Broberg the other way for Buchnevich or a similar scoring winger with term. I'd also ship Broberg and Ceci out for an Ekholm type acquisition with term to play RD, but with no 1st left to dangle, an Ekholm style trade is pretty much impossible at this point.

My prediction is another Kulikov type, a proven veteran NHL D man coming in as a 6/7 type Dman for insurance, at the cost of a 3rd or 4th round pick, or maybe a mid tier prospect like Niemelainen.

Pretty happy with the Henrique and Carrick acquisitions, I think both of them represent an immediate upgrade to the roster. It'll probably cost Ryan and Brown their jobs though...

I think all priorities should have been defence. I would have picked up Hanifin and given up a first before strength in offence for the Stanley cup push.

From what I heard Hannifin would have just been a rental for the Oilers and according to his agent he hinted that he would not resign with them in July when he became a UFA as his preference was to go to a US based team.
What they would have had to give up for him as a rental simply would not have been worth it, as was the case with Vancouver and Toronto who were supposedly other teams in the mix for him. You knew LV was going to make a push for him when the put Stone on the LTIR which freed up his money at least until the playoffs start, then he can come back again like he did when they picked up Eichel.

I don't think the Flames were going to send Hanifin to us. And yeah, would have been a lot for a rental.

And, if it ain't broke. We're 3rd in GA/GP in the last 30-ish games since Christmas...and that's including the couple of games it was a train wreck when they messed with the pairings.

Henrique, Carrick, and Stecher are good low cost ads without messing too much with the chemistry that's obviously working, imo.
