That's certainly not a myth to me. When I was in the Yukon, all I was basically focused on, was catching grayling and even caught a trophy sized one. There were a few types of weighted flys that I would catch one grayling after the another on. I believe their lack of popularity in Alberta, is because they are much smaller here and much less of them here compared to the yukon IMO.

Love ice fishing lake whites.. and flyfishing for rocky mtn whites....

but fav would have to be pike of good size.
