Default rifle scope grease

I just bought a bushnell banner scope and noticed that there is clear grease around the zoom adjustment knob. is that normal or could there be a problem. i'm assuming that it should be sealed and have no grease leaking out of it

They were likely just too lazy to wipe off the excess grease used during the assembly of the scope.
