Question Black Powder

I am ISO black powder for my canon. Haven't had to buy any for years. I am in the Edmonton area. Any suggestions on where to purchase some would be greatly appreciated .

Thanks
J

Last time I looked Thorsby Home Hardware had some, so did R&T Firearms in Warburg. I've got a full pound of Goex 2F at home I could sell you if needed but I'd imagine most places that sell powder should have some.

I haven't had luck at wholesale for a while. Last batch I got was Kamloops. You may want to use pyrodex or 777. I don't use them due to the antiques I shoot. I know im good with black.

I have been using pyrodex but it doesn't keep as well as good old FFF . I've had a hard time in the past finding any black powder.

Caroline Supplies is the GOEX distributor for Alberta, but they aren't cheap. If you go to the BP shoot at SPFG, open to all, you can usually pickup BP for half what Caroline Supplies sells it for. Last one was this past week end, next is Sept 9th and 10th. blackpowder@spfga.org

The Edm and Calgary gun shows usually has some at good prices as well

I picked up GOEX at Edmonton Cabela's before, and I assume they still carry it. Others already have better suggestions for cheaper pricing, but if you need it you need it, so I thought I'd mention Cabela's

I see cabellas has it in stock , I'm not in a panic to get it so i will look for the better pricing. As soon as I figure out how to put a picture of it up I will. As far as a caliber....... Lets just say it shoots golf balls a long ways lol

Hillfolk musket out of Saskatchewan sells a German bp that I find to be excellent quality and for a LOT cheaper than goex or swiss

No , I didn't incorporate one into the build , although it would be very easy to do. I've only ever shot it for effect not accuracy , 95% of the time I just put blank loads in and make a big BOOM . I am getting it ready for Canada day this year .

Quick question...
How far from the back of the chamber do you drill the fuse hole, and how big?
It's a golf ball bore, if that makes any difference.
Thanks

The bore is 15.5" deep. I have a 5/32 hole drilled at 15.25"
I hope this answers your question

Here is my procedure for loading blanks .

1-install fuse , length to determine count down
2-put black powder in (I use 3 film canisters)
3-saran wrap , lots of saran wrap. Pack down gently
4-now that i have a barrier between the powder and the rest of the boar i start packing in the tin foil. The more you pack in the bigger the boom .

Default where to get black powder

Try calling Ken @ Alberta Guides 1-780-478-1988. He's in Edmonton. Has Goex and Swiss, usually pretty good prices too. Good luck

Wow, that seems like a LOT of powder.
