Default Looking for bear hunting partner

I'm planning my first bear hunting trip May 4-5. First hunting anything trip at that. I'm looking for someone who wants to come out with me. I've got all my own gear except a decent truck to get around the back roads. Thinking of heading to WMU 349 or around there. If anyone is interested please let me know. Thanks!

Mitch

You're a tad early for 349. You should see bears, but in the past I've found after May 15 is much better.

Ya maybe. Hoping to get lucky. Unfortunately for me its the only weekend i'll be able to go for the month so figure it'll be at least a good scouting trip.

You are going to have to put on alot of miles over that weekend, cruse the back roads and all the oil leases you can. Cruse the areas as if you were an oil worker and you wont spook them if you see one close dont hammer on the breaks ruse past and then walk back to where you seen them.

Hope you get one make sure you shoot a black bear there are lots of Grizzlies up there.

They were awfully late last year up there, hopefully with the mild winter they're a bit earlier this year. Watch for south facing slopes and clover patches greening up.

Ah, the inevitable Spammer. Come on over guy, we're a little short of bait, as it is.

I'm thinking early May should be pretty decent. I'm just guessing though. Maybe just hoping for some beginners luck. I've been looking at the area I want to go and looks like a lot of decent cut lines and areas to do some calling. Who knows. I'll get out there either way and hopefully not cross any of those Grizzlies.

Hunted there quite a bit the last 15 years. See bears often but never any bruisers, watch the clay roads up there once it rains (take chains) or you may be there longer than planned!
