Man, I thought I was old. Reading this thread has made me think I'm 40 years younger than most.

Please God. If I ever become a crotchety, close minded, negative old fart, please send a lightning bolt my way.

I'm no rap fan but I'd listen to it riveted before I'd watch any of the crap country thats popular these days. Hasn't been decent country for 20 - 30 years. Recycled top 40 AM garbage with cowboy hats and pig stickers.

I’d would rethink your position

If you didn’t enjoy well your negative comments are not needed here, if you didn’t enjoy it could have kept your comments to yourself and carried on!

Why would i re-think my position ? Some liked the half time show some didn't. No one is going to tell me i can't voice my opinion. Like get real , "your comments are not needed here", " keep your comments to yourself" ?
Others commented their opinion on the show........really no big deal.
Suck er up for christ sake it's a two way street

Just watched it. SoFi stadium is in the heart of where much of this music movement started, in Inglewood/Compton. This was an homage to the artists to make it out and influence the industry, as well as paying respect for those who didn't make it out.

Of course there's those who may not have liked it, or it felt foreign to them. I didn't like sushi until I expanded my horizons and lived in Japan for a couple years. It can be hard to expand horizons if you've never been off your quarter section of land...

That said, I also like Gord Bamford...

I can respect all of those guys that were performing
All of them made something out of nothing with their lives
Half of them would probably be dead by now

What those guys have all done, without any education, no schooling etc is incredible
Everything they accomplished was from talent and hard work
They never quit.
Even when they stopped releasing their own new music, they were still working and growing. Dr Dre is worth $820M! Amazing!

If this is the music you grew up with, we are very close in age. It was junk then, and its still junk today. That is not your gramps telling you that either.

You don't listen to country very much I'd bet. From the mid/late 90's until about 2010-2015 I'd agree with your assessment. Trying to turn stray cats into possums. All hat and no cattle.

The last 10ish years there has been a huge resurgence of old timey country artists. Many, also balance true country with the modern pop/rap country too. This is where things like itunes is swell.

Some have even dropped big contracts and started their own labels to produce music that taylor swift could never sing.

If becoming a crotchety, close minded, etc ,etc., is a concern, you may consider minimizing the time you spend on AO. It appears to be highly contagious.

In hopes of siding with kw12, I just went an watched half for myself to see for myself. My 100% honest
thoughts: "complete & utter horrid garbage"! I can't believe the humans can like this..

As if there wasn't enough going on right now to divide people, do we really need to add musical genres to the list? I have my preferences too but find the volume/mute buttons on the remote a reliable way to ignore things I just don't like. Or change the channel or get up and grab a beer...
Condemnation of an opposing opinion is something Justin Trudeau is most famous for.

X2. The crowd sure seemed to enjoy. Nice homage to the west coast music days of past. If you don't like it go feed the cows or toss some bales for 15 minutes during the half time show.

Not my kind of music but who am I to call it garbage?
To each his own.
This argument has been going on forever
Who is this beethoven guy think he is?
Frank Sinatra is a punk
Elvis won't last
The Beatles are a flash in the pan
Im not comparing these rappers to the above but it is the same argument.
I do agree that newer country just seems like AM pop with a cowboy hat

I will agree that there is good country music being made now, but if you tune into a country music radio station you would never know it.
