Default WMU 408 - Hwy 40 warning - trucks broken into today

Just a heads up if you are hunting the 408. Friend of mine got his truck side window smashed and some gear stolen. From reports sounds like someone hit several trucks along Hwy 40 today around mid morning.

Years ago the same thing was happening way too frequently to vehicles parked along Hwy 40. Mostly vehicles of people who had parked to walk into some of the rock climbing crags.
They even were opening vehicles without smashing windows and just stealing the credit cards out of wallets. The victim would have no idea anything was missing until their credit card company would call after a rash of charges that were flagged.
One afternoon we were returning from a morning out and came across one of the most satisfying scenes of justice. A British Military group that was in the Kananaskis training had heard about the thefts and decided to stake out a location that was being frequented by the thieves. They had waited in the trees in full combat gear for a few hours. Watched two guys break into two cars then stormed out of the trees to deliver some justice with their boots. This is the scene that we drove up onto on the big hill just by barrier lake.
I'm sure the two losers had a pretty good scare! We stopped to get the story and say thanks. The RCMP were called to come pick up the two guys.
