Default windfall

Went out to line a few days ago, had upto 2 feet of snow still on ground. However that was nothing compared to wind sheer that took the tops of 100ft pine trees and deposited them on trapping trails and cutlines. Never seen this in 60 years in the bush. We will be running chain saws for
half the winter. Rob you do not want to go out to your line.

Default Wind/snow storm

The area is WMU 346 north of Edson. Hunters will need to leave their quads at home as they will not be able to access any cutlines.

It was not just the snow which bent and broke poplar and alder. It was the terrible wind sheer probably broke 20% of 100 year old pine trees off.

Boy, do I hear you BGW. Just got back the other night after spending only 4 days of line clearing. I don't think I would have the balls to ask anyone to do what I had to do. Worked myself like a rented mule. Only thing that saved me from being raven food was that my Husky broke a chain and wrecked my bar. Had a spare chain but like I said..it made me go to town. And then on the way out I had to fight my way back after the hunters decimated what was a sketchy trail for me on the way in... Oh well, what else is new. Now I will have foot deep ruts to look forward to all winter long.... hahaha

Good one BGW, Should not be a big deal as far as access is concerned. I haven't seen any hunters with anything more than a 6" (inch) bar on their saws anyhow ...hahaha

Sourdough, your right us Old trappers do all the heavy lifting open up our trails and cutlines. Then hunters come along and chew up the mudholes and muskeg, break our bridges and leave us a mess for the winter.

I have hunted 516 forever. Seen it a few times. Go in late Aug for a look see and trail clean up to the tent area and spend all day cutting fallen trees. One area we had to make a new trail and go around the fallen stuff. Would still be cutting to clear that line.

Just back from 4 days of clearing trails and cutlines. Only got about 4 miles of lines cleared by 3 of us with heavy duty Husky chain saws. Only about another 40 miles of trails to go. Just got to love trapping!
