East Coast Slang
Just watching a Cold Water Cowboys episode where they tear a large hole in the seine.
They return to port and find a huge area to lay the seine out to assess the damage.
Under the gun to repair the seine and return fishing.
Standing shoulder to shoulder repairing the net one of the guys says-It's a Hard Linnet Boys
What the heck does that mean?
Searched for Linnet-gave me a bird
Hard Linnet took me to Porn sites

These fellas on the show are way tooooo comical, preparation is the key to success and these guys just blunder around getting it done but the hard way.
As for the lingo they wing it, thank got for subtitles eh.

Far Eastern Canadians
This thread reminds me of all the East Coasters and Newfoundlanders we used to have here on the AOF.
At one time in the earlier days of the AOF, I think they almost outnumbered Albertans.
Where have they all gone?!

East Coast Slang
Maybe he said “””it’s hardly a net boys””” as in it doesn’t look like much of a net anymore. But I’m from Cape Breton, our twang isn’t quite as intense as the newfies, he coulda been asking for a smoke from one of the b’ys...or a ride to the store

Last straw for my brother was hearing his Halifax-born daughters say "some good". He had to move the family back west. LOL

You guys do realize they are deliberately amping up the brogue and the slang specifically for the show right?

My gf is from PEI. If I am headed out somewhere instead of asking “do you want company?” or “want me to come with you?” its “shall I come with?” Thats just one, she has a host of others.

Good morning my fine friend. How was the fishing this glorious morning?
Not a nibble I am afraid. Pity

We used to hear that a lot when we were stationed in Nova Scotia. "Some good", "some big". I remember one NS women who just returned from BC and said that the mountains were "right some big". Both of our sons were born in NS but were quite young when we got transferred to Sask, so they don't even remember NS.
