Default Tory Spending vs. Wildrose

From the Edmonton Journal (Karen Kleiss)
Quote:
EDMONTON - The Progressive Conservative and Wildrose parties each earned about $3 million last year, but the Tories finished 2013 with $946,000 in debt while the Wildrose has $430,000 in net assets.

Annual financial statements filed with Elections Alberta on Monday show the long-governing Tory party — once home to a storied war chest — has used $1.1 million of its operating line of credit. In 2013, the Tories brought in $2.86 million in total revenue, and ran a $136,000 deficit.

The Wildrose opposition brought in $3.07 million in contributions, and finished the year with a $27,000 surplus. The Wildrose has no debt.

“The PCs are running their party just like they run the province — straight into debt, deficit and bankruptcy,” Wildrose finance critic Rob Anderson said. “In 2008, the PCs were a powerhouse of fundraising. They had more money than any party. … Now they’re in a lot of trouble, plain and simple.”

Progressive Conservative party president Jim McCormick declined to comment on the party’s finances Monday.
Thought this was interesting. Makes sense they handle the party money the way they handle ours.

Most governing parties, if put in charge of the Sahara desert, would run out of sand within a year or two......

Is this an April Fool's thread? There's is no way the Tories could run a deficit!
