Default Best local donut shop Edmonton and area

So tired of the same old donuts. Any suggestions on any of the finer local establishments.

Try Italian Bakery (not Italian Centre).

Destination Donuts downtown. Grab some fried chicken at Northern Chicken up the road and then walk down to grab a donut.

Or just off Whyte Ave (behind the McDonalds). It’s a weird parking lot.

Bit of a haul but the Crooked Creek general store makes as good as they come. $ 16.50 for a dozen fresh out of the deep fryer.

Then walk yourself to the Royal Alex and hope you arrive before your heart attack does.

It amazes me how everything on Tim Hortons menu other than the Ice Cap is unfit for human consumption.

X2. I can’t drive past the Crooked Creek store without stopping. The bakery on Main Street in Rocky also makes good doughnuts.

Used to be decent when made on location but now are crap.

Wish we had krispy kreme here, can’t beat a fresh from the fryer donut.

Was going to say this. Made CBC list of top ten small town food in Canada.

I second this one. Good varieties, blows TH out of the water in texture and flavour.

There are a couple doughnut vendors at the Old Strathcona Farmers Market. Transcend coffee carries Apollo doughnuts and Farrow makes their own.
I have a doughnut once or twice a year and it's always the same type - old fashioned plain from Tims.

Calmar Bakery is worth the stop in as well not just for the donuts for everything!! Stop early in the day by late afternoon most everything is sold out and it’s pretty slim pickings in the pastry & donut department.

The Drayton Bakery is by far the best we’ve got around here. The doughnuts are better than Timmy Ho’s, but their fritters and cinnamon buns are beyond belief for goodness.

They're OK. Kinda greasy. I'm surprised they lasted so long in a small town where maybe 1% is vegan. They'd get a lot more of my money if they dropped their coffee prices or had bigger cups and actually served meat. Mmm vegetarian donair bleh.

The most mind boggling part is the lineup of idiots who religiously eat and drink this garbage on a daily basis.

Maybe not the best donut in town but my all time favorite has to be those glazed chocolate croissants from safeway’s Bakery. So sweet you’re almost guaranteed to get diabetes.

Theres a few bakeries in this area that do donuts. The Dutch bakery or the Italian but if you asked my family(wife) the place in this area with the best donuts is called take 5.

Not sure if it's the same place your referring to but they are but it's the same vicinity. Fresh every morning and massive donuts.

Agreed. Not a big doughnut eater but I did try theirs when I was in picking up some bread. REALLY good doughnuts, not light and fluffy like so many, a denser, more bread like consistency that I like better.

The Co-op in GP made great doughnuts, they were always a big hit when I brought them in for the staff. Will have to stop at the Crooked Creek store next time I am up there and bring some back, my brother has a wicked sweet tooth and loves a good doughnut.

This. I forgot about these guys. Very very good if it’s the same as it was 4 years ago.

Dean, if they were in Edmonton there'd be a lineup out the door 24/7. 15 minutes from one of my hunting spots so it's not a big secret why I put on weight during the season. Impossible to eat just one.

And yet the line ups continue, one of the mysteries of the new millennium. Crap food, crap coffee, I guess the plus is that the lines move fast.
