Default 25 wssm for hunting

Is the 25 wssm to short to hunt big game in alberta, if it isn't I think that would be a nice little rifle for the mountains or bush. It ballistically matches the 25-06 which is a potent round. Tell me what you think

All the wsm and wssm's are too short to be effective.

The wssm's also lack the popularity to find ammo and brass...

I would consider one in a single shot rifle if I could find brass.

Too short to be effective?

Brass and ammo are less popular. Some issues can happen (feeding) that are inherent to short, fat cases.

Ballistic differences between it and a 25-06 are purely conversational

I think there is a law about how long a catridge is to hunt with, along with being a minimum 24 calibre

its .23 caliber and length has nothing to do with caliber, its a width measurement.

There used to be a length restriction, but that was dropped long ago.

True even if you had a .22 harpoon with 180 gr pushed at 4000 fps you could not hunt big game legally.(BTW I know this does not exist).

When I was a little tyke the law was greater than .23 caliber and a 51mm or longer case, the case length requirement as since been dropped and no longer matters. It's still actualy listed in my old Hunters Education book from school is the only reason I remembered the old law.

the old law about case leght was to keep people from using under powered rifles and rifles that would shoot pistol cartridges, witch did not realy have a enough power to make a claen kill on a deer at 100 yds.
