Default Federal Govt buying Edmonton/Calgary River Valley Land

I was talking to someone last weekend who says to me that Federal Govt wants to buy river valley property in Edmonton and Calgary. I had not heard anything about this so I decided to google.

Anyone heard of this? What would be the rational?

It's part of Federal plan to put the river valleys under a park like shared control so the feds can "help" with costs, give funding etc. I say stay the eff out of our river valleys. Bad enough when we have a city council ready to give bylaw tickets if you....god forbid, ride your mountain bike or walk on the grass where some bureaucrat says you shouldn't be.

explanation bluntly
CORRUPT FEDS WANT CONTROL OVER EVERYTHING

waterways and make more parks to control movement of people

If the feds really cared all they would do is let the provinces know they may wish to consider setting aside land near watercourses
