Default Your suggestions for winter boots

My winter boots are warm, but they are not water proof. Having ice cold water filling my boots has already ruined couple fishing trips. I tried those Kamik rubber boots from Canadian Tire but they were too stiff and not comfortable.
Any recommendations?

Default Sorels

I've had the big black Sorel Glacier boots since I was 16. Going on 20 years of wearing them plenty each winter and they show no signs of slowing down. Still on the original liners. Never cold feet, and the bottom half are rubber. One of the last years they were made in Canada as I understand it.

Black Sorels -40 boots that you can buy at Mark's as well as other places. I just bought a new pair and my old ones are over 20 yrs old and still good, just got a good deal on a new pair. I wear them ice fishing as well as hunting when the snow gets deeper and it gets colder.

Baffin 100%, use what they use in the arctic to work in. My father in law just gave me a brand new pair that he had working the ice roads for 30 plus years. these were brand new. every time I put my feet in them its like a warm touch from a woman.......soft and comfortable and the rubber is meant for the cold temps.

x2 for the Arctic Muck Boots.
Bought mine on sale last spring for $100.00. Super happy with them. Love the fact they come up to my knees. Very helpful in the fall when I found a bad spot with the quad.

Baffin insulated rubbers. Get a size bigger and wear some Bama booties if it’s crazy cold.

great comment on the size thing, mine are a size 11 and I'm usually a 9 1/2- 10. I wouldn't want them any smaller.

Dont be sucked in by the - 100 stuff. Your feet will still get cold in those if you just sit there. You have to move to keep warm no matter the rating. I dont think youll ever get minus 100 on this planet and if you do you shouldnt be fishing or outdoors for that matter!

Another vote for the Muck Artic Pro, keep your feet warm and dry. Year's ago we had bad overflow on a lake, feet got soaked in my baffins. Stopped at Peavy Mart on the way home and bought Mucks.

This boot from Cabela’s is excellent, I got mine when it went on sale for $200 but I would still pay the full price. The first time I tried them I went out on Winefred and got stuck in about 8” of over flow I thought my trip was going to be ruined but I jump off the quad and step in it and never got wet feet and it took about 10min if messing around it it to get out. It was a cold trip to and the boots stayed warm and dry all day. They have so much insulation on the bottom of the boot that probably does lots of the magic keeping your feet warm.Ive had them for about 4yrs now.

I bought another Cabela’s brand boot cause I liked the first one so much and their really comfortable . I’m not sure if they are going to be as warm as the trans Alaska’s but we’ll do how this season goes. If you are interested in the order a size up from what you would normally where cause they can fit small.

Ditto on the Baffins, and min 1 size bigger. Had mine 3 seasons now already. Think they are the Apex or similar kind. They are a little bulky, can’t zip the bottom of the legs of my bibs up all the way wearing them but a small, wide Velcro strap fixes that up for me easy enough. They are expensive but you won’t have any ruined fishing trips because of them not keeping your feet warm unless you are in fairly deep slop and floodwater

Default Baffin

I use Baffin, rated to -100C. I wear size 9 shoes and have size 11 Baffins. Don't plan on walking to far with them; great for standing still for hours, both hunting and fishing.

I think the the boots will depend if you're a using a tent that's heated or if you run and gun outside all day for 8 hours.

When I sit in a tent with a heater and the foam pad on the ground the -100 is not important. But if you fish out doors in -35 all day then I would say get the boots with the highest rating

So I feel your answers on here will be different from everyone.
I know guys that don't even wear winter boots and just use merrel hiking shoes and they say "I'm fine". But they usually just drill a couple holes and sit in one spot. Barely leave the heated tent.

But the guys that don't fish with a tent " need" the high rating boots. The guys that say warm high end boots your feet still get cold is because usually your feet will sweat cuz it's too hot. You need to wear something like bama's to absorb and allow the moisture to escape.

https://www.marks.com/en/ganka-bama-...Bcolor%5D=GREY

After I wear bamas for 8 hours the outside will look very moist, you would think it's water that got into your boots, but it's actually sweat wicking off your feet. If you want to save cost just get any insulated boots good for the - 40 or 55 and use bamas with them.

Some great advise in here.. very grateful for your tips my fellow fishermen. My main concern was having soaked feet inside the boot (I blame my fast auger for raising too much water drilling ice holes). I guess either a Muck or a Baffin would fit my needs. The Bama socks are new to me too and are now on my shopping list
