Default Show off your Lee Enfield.

For some reason I've just got a soft spot for Enfields, all the way from collector grade ones to crude hack job sporters, I just love those guns. I think part of my affliction is that although there are tons of them around, to me each LE seems to have its own unique "personality". So lets see em!

Default FrankenEnfield No.4 US Property

I came accross a US Property barreled action (bolt, mag, trigger guard inc).
So with spare wood I assembled this. Headspaced, bore straightness and all other guaging was carried out.
Haven’t shot it yet. Soon though.

No pics. Got a Mark 3, No 1. Made in New South Wales Australia 1944. All original. Rarely if ever I shoot it, just collects dust I guess. Think I got a box of shells for it somewhere.

As usual I can't seem to attach pics.( if some one wants to post them for me I can email or text them) mines a mk4 no1. Chopped down to 18.75 with light mount, red dot, and DYI scope mount with old 3-9 bushnell. With the 1000 lum light mounted anything out to 80 yards gets lit up like daylight. I use it as my truck / quad/ camp gun. This year I carried it for all my bush hunting, harvested 1 cow Elk and 1 WT buck.

That's the kind of Lee's I always end up owning. I've got two right now, one I got for $130, it groups well... but about 12" high so I'm mounting a Williams sight on it. I got this one for free...

I think the pics we've got so far really highlight my earlier point, more than any other rifle I can think of they all seem to have developed into unique individuals over the last hundred years or so. Nice rifles boys, thanks for the eye candy.

A couple years after the new gun control rules came into effect around 2001 I believe. I bought 3 lee enfields from a gentleman who posted them in the bargain finder. They were his dad's and he just wanted them gone so I bought all 3 for $75 that was $25 each. I gave one to my nephew and kept the nicer 2. About 4 years later they were taking up space in my gun cabinet and I sold them for $100 each. I regret that until today and wish I would have kept at least 1.

My other LE is a 1917 BSA. Mine is a blond though, it looks very much like Sashi's gun. Once I get the Williams sight mounted on it I'll post some pictures.

Here's one that I'm gonna regret trading. It's soon to find a home with a Catnthehat! Notice the 1 piece stock....

Any chance of a pic of the bottom metal area of that 1-piece stock?

That's about as nice a one-piece stock Lee Enfield conversion as I have seen.
Very competent workmanship. I like it.

No pics here either. My dad gave each of us boys a 303. Mine was in some ugly looking stock. I made my own sling to carry it. That gun was a tack driver but the long trigger travel sucked. More than once I had game walk away before i could take up all of the play in it and send a round down range. I got a new rifle and subsequently sold it. I wish i still had it some times.

I like the trigger gives me time to settle the sights on target.

These are great rifles and a very capable cartridge for all of North American game.

Saw a show a few years back where a fella and his kid are on a skidoo pacing a polar bear, bear has enough and was about 100 yards out so it starts coming towards them which was what they wanted, the kid gets off the back of the skidoo and goes out about 10 yards, sits down takes a rest off a knee....now the bear is about 30-50 yards....he shoots it stone dead straight on.....I was puckering just watching this....303 British....capeable cartridge and rifle combination...in the right hands....deadly.

I was recently reading an article that said that the first recorded second generation grizzly/ polar bear hybrid had been shot in the NWT... taken with a .303 brit, not by accident either the guy was hunting polar bears with his Lee Enfield, as usual. Sounds like the .303 still probably takes about as many polar bears as any of the big magnums.

I don't mind the LE trigger myself, but I do find it hard to switch back and forth between a LE and a modern rifle. I tend to take up the first stage and pre load the second a bit, then touch off the shot when the sights settle. This habit will make for some horrible groups when one switches to a better trigger.

Yup my little 6-284 has a very light trigger, if I have both out I gotta talk to myself about it.....people think I lost it, at least I don't answer myself.

A couple of WW1 BSA #1 MK3 sporters. The first one served with the Australians and the other is a DP marked rifle that served with the New Zealanders.

All original Long Branch, It's won on many Provincial and National matches as well as Bisley , the first time in 1966.
It is still accurate enough to make the trip to 1,000 yards from the prone position ,and does so every year

This old warhorse has seen more beaver dams and moose pastures than you can imagine!
This is the very first rifle my father ever sporterized, a No.4 in a one piece stock with a flush mount magazine cut down from a standard 10 round.
2 1/2X Khales on top .
A very accurate rifle with 180 grain .311's.

Sweet rifle Cat. I wish I had the skills to push an old 303 open sights to 1000 with any kind of consistency. It's hard enough to stay close to moa with a whizzbanger and telescope at that distance.

Well, to be truthful they are not open sights, but the elevator style peep sight.
For serious competitions however I bolt on the Parker hale #5 target sight!

Possibly too far off the rails, but this of course is my hunting rifle, and although not an Enfield, it IS chambered in .303 British!
