Lake Newell walleye
Hi Everybody,
I was wondering if any of the 'eyes experts could give me a bit of advice. I'm heading out to Newell this weekend to try to fill the walleye tags. I've always used bottom bouncers with dew worms or minnows, but since no bait is allowed, I'm not quite sure what to try. Any suggestions????
Would I try the same location as Pike, deep areas adjacent to the weeds?
Not looking for honey holes, just a few suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I sometimes us just a rubber worm with a tail (or double tail) on a bottom bouncer (with spinner rig) with the rubber on the front hook of the crawler harness.
It works well - but bait works better.

My wife and I filled our walleye tags on Newell last summer using gulp plastic worms and walleye spinners - I find they work just as well as live bait.

Don't believe the hype - nothing outfishes real bait! No bait at Newell is news to me. I was planning on going there this weekend with a couple tubs of minnows.
As for advice to the OP: keep doing what you're doing, I find bottom bouncing works best for walleye at Newell.

Bait is allowed at Newell. Bottom bouncing has always done well for us there.

I would wait till the hardwater season and then follow Wayne Christie around until he sets up! For a guy that targets pike ... he more often than not catches monster eyes much to this "walleye guy's" frustration! I have already planted my tracking device on his truck! Bring on the ice!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bottom bounce....I use worms on a worm harness, leeches are just too pricy.
Get there early....by 11 the bite was over 2 days we were there last week.
Found all over....island straight out from beach is a favorite spot tho.
20-25ft seemed the magic depth...l
Pike action was spectacular .....50 for 2 of us in 5 hrs,no monsters tho.

Most of the eyes wayne catches arent on newel.
I know he does get a few from there but most of his are from a different lake.

ahh, I hear Frank is starting to get heavy pressure, not many walleye left over 12 pounds, and the best pike last winter barely broke 35 pounds.
