Ice cleats for liner type winter boots.
Good morning,
I'm looking to buy ice cleats for my winter boots.
I read the other thread on them, but I can't find any big enough. I've done numerous google searches as well. All the ones I've found are for hiking and compact winter boots, not the big classic winter boot style.
I wear size 13 Baffins with the removable liners.
These are an older pair, above the calf height, with a very large footprint compared to hiking type boots.
Hoping others have found ones for these extra large boot profiles.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Hello,
I use the spikes from Gear Trade, wear a large size over my size 10 Baffin boots. I suspect the XL would fit over your boots as they are quite stretchy.

I have a couple of pairs of the icer's, I found at Lee Valley. Different sizes for different boots. A little pricey but worth it so far for me when I have had to use them.

A cheap but effective solution is to screw short sheet metal screws into the thick portions of the boot sole.
Don't use pan head as the surface is too smooth, make sure you get the hex head as they will give better traction.

These are the ones I got, good for a 13+ boot size when ordered in XL.
Tip: Take the cleats off and hang up to dry after use to prevent premature rusting.

I have the same boots, same size, any of the rubber ones in the largest size will stretch on to those boots. I have one pair I bought at the local gun shop and another I bought off of Amazon, they both fit.

Even Canadian Tire specials will stretch over a pretty large boot with room to spare. I have a size 11 sorrel super wide pac boot and it's got some stretch left. I usually stretch them over the boot in the warm house (never take them off) and slip them on when I get to the lake.

Info very helpful.
Thanks everyone,
I have a set bought at Canadian Tire many years ago. They are XL, and they don't even come close to fitting my Baffins, thus my question. They must be oddly sized.
I'll get a current pair.
Much appreciated,
Ken

We use the Midsole cleats at work they are kept on your boot with an elastic wrapped around.. Can keep them on your boots and turn them up when not in use... Seems to work good if that is something you are interested in

^^^^^ This is exactly what I did ^^^^^^
One thing to remember is, if you accidentally touch the upper surface of the cab frame of your vehicle while wearing the boot, the boot is very unforgiving on the paint, so be careful.
Good luck,

We use these Mid-sole Cleats on our boots at work. I've used them on my reg work boots and winter Dunlops at work as well as on my Mucks for walking the dog.
They work well on ice.

I take mine off when not in use so as not to permanently stretch the rubber.

Mine were not rubber slip on, they were velcro strap on and never a problem. Each to their own for sure
