I have experience with slick tricks as does another buddy...we still use the reapers, the cutting diameter is larger.

Slick tricks fly good, but I'm not impressed with their performance, they just don't seem to cut a big enough hole to kill em' quick it seems.

NBFK, GREAT video. Thanks for sharing.

As for everyone else...I wish I hadn't read this thread lol
I'm currently shopping for a new bh and I've NEVER had anything convince me to attempt twisting on a mechanical until now. It was so easy going about my life all happy and content with narrowing down a couple good fixed blades...and now I'm faced with the nuisance dilemma, "fixed OR mechanical". The allure to a mechanical is like Frodo putting on that ring!
LC, outstanding stills from the vid.
Kurt, impressive results (just couldn't say penetration) on a long shot into a moose!
ABB, also some very impressive pics
MikeW, you've pointed out some good reasoning to consider before putting on any bh. So perhaps the question isn't "which bh?" so much as "is my bow tuned?"
Neil, smack some sense into me before I put some money down on a mechanical. It's looking like even you want to use the grim reaper

What is the meaning of life!? Lol

I have some slick trick magnums I am going to try as I still would prefer to have less KE loss due to mechanical function. However in thinking about it what would have more KE loss ...a three blade reaper or a four blade fixed ....surely the four blade has a more overall cutting surface but also significant surface friction.....Im not sure that I would see anymore penetration with this style of broadhead if not maybe less.
I shot a bull moose at 50 yards with a G5 Striker perfect broadside right behind the shoulder and I that arrow sliced through him like butter and was found about 25 yards behind where he was standing.
On the G5 strikers I just dont like the blade retention ring as I find when it tightens down it is very hard to get center and often results in some good arrow wobble on a spinner.
Might even try the shuttle T lock as i belive this design should be very deep penetrating and not a ton of blase to be pushed by wind but still have excessive confidence in the grim reaper.

A couple other stills, I have posted before. I like the one with the Nockturnal the best.

At the end of the day there are great broad heads both fixed and mechanical, shot placement is critical to succes with both types however the potential to have something go wrong is increased with the addition to mechanical anything.

Keep it simple stupid and even simple can take game home...

How much shoulder did you catch on the exit? Pretty epic screen shot.

I didn't catch any actually, because of the downward angle it caught a touch of the leg....truth be told my shot should have been a bit further back than it was, but it was effective!

I am pretty sure the arrow caught the rib going in and it changed the angle inside a bit.

Exit....head down, leg to the left...just caught the back muscle of the leg above the arm pit.

Can't argue with the results I'd give you the 11.

LC, I like those stills from the video footage. I got a gopro that I'm going to try and get some vid with. I hope I can pull stills from it like that.
Thanks 58, I think keeping it simple is what I prefer. One day I'll grab some grim reaper to compare but I'll stick with fixed for now. I'll be interested to see what difference there is in how much wind affects each at 30-50 yards.
Stephen, maybe you can resurrect this thread once you put some game down with those slick tricks
