Default Wabamum Lake

Fishing very slow again at Wabamum Lake Starting from Aug .24 onward .
Not sure why ,is it the fishing lines ripping out their teeth from the heavey fishing pressure or is it from the oil spill ,as many of the fish have a mouth grouth or infection now.
Open for discussion .

i hav yet to see any less than healthy fish in my experiences; i have always found there to be a lull in the action there at the end of summer. that being said i haven't spent too much time out there this season yet. guess we'll see...
cheers

Default High Water Temperature

Hi JR.

I haven't been to Seba (and talked to my nephew's sons) since the August long weekend but my hunch is a higher water temperature. It has (finally) been a hot and dry August.

You mentioned the oil spill; on the south side of the pond my relatives have not seen any oil balls or slick. Someone else from the south side maybe able to add to this?

Dick

Where abouts do you fish JR? I fish there farily frequently and always enjoy reasonable success. Pm me if you want. Also we've always found the fishing gets bad when there is no cloud cover.

Wierd. Fished Wabamun 2 weeks ago and had over 40 pike to the boat. Also, caught 3 over 10lbs - 34", 36", 39" (nice big pike). Going to try and fish their again this coming weekend.

Finally made my trip to the lake yesterday evening......3 days late but anyway. Fishing was a little slower than usual but still managed 14 to the boat. Lost a few when they snapped the line but all in all a great evening. Average was probably 4-5 lbs. They were loving the plastic perch made by storm.

I used same lure 3 weeks ago - they hammered it so many times I ran out of them (kept biting them in half). Switched to any lure with Perch coloration and had awesome success.
