Default Ice Fishing Safety Reminder

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80DSbZQrzb8

This video is just a friendly reminder to everyone to use your heads and good judgment this ice fishing season, especially if you like your truck/vehicle how it is.

That was awesome. The best was the guy at the end trying to hold onto his vehicle as it goes down completely unwilling to admit defeat.

Pretty sure that one operator died can't see him being able to get out of that cab.

He got out of the cab in the video. But he was very lucky. Another few inches and that door wouldn't have opened.

Ya, the second operator video is for sure in a world of ****. Must have skipped over him the first time.

Think there was a couple of operators that didn't make it.

Wow Some real geniuses there. Some of those only had about 2 or 3 inches of ice. Others must be near blind.

Scary how quickly one can just disappear under the ice.

And having scuba dived under the ice I can tell you it is amazing how the hole disappears from sight as you look up.

I know this is a bit off topic, but the one thing I will say is spend a few bucks and get some decent ice grips for your boots. my buddy slipped last year and luckily he was ok and our day wasn't over, but I had a friend 20 years ago who slipped playing hockey and banged his head. He has never been the same. Take care out there.

That's not even remotely off topic.
Thanks for the tip.

The thing that always amazes me is the stupidity of some people. Like the one guy in the video that was driving on about 2 or 3 inches of ice.....why the heck would he do that. And then there is that guy that tried to pull his vehicle out by hand.....sorry bud....but you aint superman...

Good reminder, some were scary to watch.

I've been in the drink with a sled, 20 + yrs ago, pulled my gf at the time(wife now) out with a dead fall tree i pulled from an island, she was deeper, i close to the island. She was standing on her sled seat and still chest deep in the water. 12 + inches of ice in January, just unlucky to find a spring near shore. We were lucky a sledder seen it happen and came by and took her back to the truck, then came and got me. I was only wet from the knee down as my sled broke through but not down. Had to do the belly crawl to her, get her to grab the tree and talk her into leaving that sled seat. Then we changed clothes, she got my dry stuff and boots and I carried her wet stuff while trying to wear a boot two sizes too small lol. We were walking to a guy fishing beside his jeep when the sledder came by. Lac Na none by the church camp on the east side. If you go between the island and camp, be careful. All the locals apparently know of it. We had no clue and were just going for a little ride during a break from fishing and tooling along the shoreline.

I have appraised Excavators and Dozers that sunk over their roof in Muskeg. And Farm tractors and skid steers that go down on the farm ponds. Watching that vid and others, i see how fast it can happen with the large stuff.

I almost always sled onto a lake since with my big Magnum sleigh behind. Been 20 + yrs ago since we fell through and you don't forget that feeling. Watching that vid has my guts turning right now. When driving on ice at Calling or Slave lake when you know its 3 to 4 ft thick, I still get nervous.

Good reminder, thanks for posting

Just saw someone put a tire through the ice yesterday. I think there was a spring there. I'm pretty sure he had to change his underwear afterwards. Luckily he had some chains that he put on to get enough traction to pull the tire out of the hole.
