Ya with all of those little walleye in there and burbot there must be some big mama lunkers hanging around. Hopefully be heading out with jts1 with the zodiac the next time out to troll for one of those.

Default A monster

Yes there is at least one. Last year my fishing partner my FIL, had one that was spooling him out and broke his line after a long fight. We have caught many a 20 pound pike in our travels and this rates up there with some good ones. I'm sure he is still lurking with the rapala hanging out of his lips. Last year Darryl the campground guy told me over morning coffee that the night before he was going home over the bridge and someone had a big one that he was holding at his shoulder height and the tail was wagging on the ground. Guy was a full size adult so had to be big. I don't know why as it is a young reservoir but maybe some were there from years ago in the creek.

July 18 at Pine Coulee Reservoir!

Do we have the option to book the campground, or a group one near by? I think some shut eye will be needed after the ginger drinks.

I got five bucks that says NiceMustang takes the cake, fishing is religon for that guy. I am willing to give it my best shot at taking the title!

No they don't let you book sites there. There is a groupcamp but it is way at the bottom a ways from the water. Not close if you have your boat etc. parked nearby. Several of us will be camping there, I will be there for the week myself, and should be enough room to double up if needed. If at all possible come out a night or 2 before and put a tent up or if a trailer bring it out and put it on your spot. Only rule they have is a sleeping unit must be on site. I have seen people with pet tents sitting on a site holding them.

Hey Jeff, I will be staying out there and would'nt mind a camp site, if there is one available! Just need enough room for my 8ft tent trailer, and a couple of jars!

Let me know if there is anything I can help with, or reserve sites for others etc...

Catching alot of walleye is fairly easy from shore as long as you have a healthy fishery and an idea of how the fish behave in the lake. I have not fished the lake they are talking about but I showed nicemustang a place at a local public lake where in a day one guy could easily catch double that amount of walleye if he spent the whole day out there(I think he caught about 35 in a couple hours).
Remember that 95% of lures are meant to catch fishermen... stay with basic tried and true methods and you will find they work great.
If you doubt what I'm saying check the story in the regs book about the Author who was fishing with a box full of new high tech gear but by the end of the weekend he was begging borrowing and ready to steal to get his hands on regular old spoons(the one thing he didn't have room for in his high tech tackle box).
There is a reason there are some things on the market that will always sell...they work...My method is simply a weighted pickerel rig with a couple minnows on it.

Just got back a few minutes ago from PCR. Pike were not lighting up our lines this a.m. but the wallys did their usual thing. My fil finally around 4 o'clock said he had enough reeling in fish for the day. Was insane as usual but was hoping to bring a pike or so for the frying pan. If anyone is thinking of camping there this weekend forget it. There was only 3-4 sites available when we got there this a.m. and they were gone just after lunch. I think a lot came down for the holiday and left their units there for the weekend as there was not a lot of people just a lot of trailers.

I would like a spot for my tent...but then again after Michelle's gracious offer the other night in Sundance, I may sleeping under the table in the RV....warm and content. That snoring thing is a medical condition and it's not my fault.

Of course, there is one other option...

Sleep out on the boat all night only waking long enough to pull in the monster as my drag on the reel sings away!

Yeah...that's the ticket!

Default Firewood

Jeff
We will be there starting Wednesday and will have 1 of the pickups loaded with wood for the week. More is always better of course. We need to take 2 trucks due to travel trailer and boat.
Looked at the long term weather on Accuweather this a.m. and the long range for then is showing close to 30 degrees. Make sure everyone brings enough liquid to drink as it can get nasty hot on shore or in the boat. especially if the wind is down.

There wasn't too many empty spots open there today

I should have enough room in back of my truck for a pile of whatever. The only thing I was gonna bring beside " the first aid kit " was a shovel ( for members to borrow )

Wink

Anyone that knows anything about Alberta's fisheries knows how to walk through bullshiet to get to the fishing spot. Besides you should have seen the one that I had on. It was HUGE could have fliped the boat if it wanted to....
