Default Who's hitting the Hard water this weekend?

Still 3 feet of ice on some lakes up north...110cm in one spot on Sturgeon.

Top 5-12" is starting to rot. No flood water yet

Now that my flu is starting to fade away, Im thinking of checking out Newell this weekend again, but I find the ice rots from the bottom up, at least it did last winter. I lost a very nice fish that hit two different times because it tore the hook out as soon as it got an angle on the bottom of the hole and snagged on the rough edges. I did figure out how to beat that though. Only problem is getting through the mud to get to the shore now .

Working on the boat instead. Probably would have taken the boy out for some early season pike on Sturgeon if I had them this weekend.

Went to spray with a few other forum members today. Fishing was a little slow but between us we still got 6 to take home.

There was 1-2 feet of fresh snow and 4-6 feet of flood water so as others mentioned it was a tough walk, especially to the far side. But the ice was still at least 30" thick with only the top couple inches rotten so there will still be ice for a while to come.

didnt do Newell, still not back to normal from the flu, whatever normal is for me did go to the Hat , the Bow is open downstream from me, and wide open in Medicine Hat, maybe spring is actually on the way??? Clocked a robin on the way to work Friday with the car, and a meadowlark today with the truck, so bird season is definitely on the way dont know what it is with the kamikaze birds around here, I seem to hit at least 10 a week. and thats trying to avoid them!

Unfortunately, I probably won't be hitting hard water anymore this season beacause I have too bloody much work and repairs to catch up on.

Oh well, I guess procrastinating on the repairs through the winter allowed me to get out onto the ice throughout the winter though.
