As a property rights advocate I would agree with your statement.
The problem is that wildlife is owned by all citizens so yes a deer herd lives on a piece of deeded land but the landowner does not own them. A city backyard birdfeeder would be the same.
Toss in publically owned lease land where a rancher leases the grass but doesn't own the wildlife and you have another situation.
This is a complex question.

I would say it’s up but the mites are as bad as I have ever seen. Talked to Two other skinners and they are seeing the same thing. Does anybody know why the mites are a lot worse in my particular area??

I would say my numbers are up but the quality of fur is down. Lots of mite damage.

So far from 18 coyotes only 11 have been worth anything.

Lots of pups running around in this area. Adults have all been healthy but one pup had mange and two with mites. The only other thing that I noticed is that the coyotes were late reaching prime this year so I have some that may grade ELY. Fur was nice and thick the past week though. The quality of coyotes has improved at my bait sites since I got rid of the sick dogs in previous years. Last few days has been slow and I'm looking forward to a little colder weather.

Guess the numbers are stagnant...in the areas near birdfeeders

How long in length do you call a pup ,[36"] and shorter on the board, form the tail head to the nose.

I don't measure them, I just know that they are pups by looking at them. They are a little smaller than an adult and the muzzle is smaller and not as long. The 36" length only determines the size at auction and under 36" will be given a M-SM size. Without measuring I'm pretty sure that all the pups that I've caught since I started in mid-November are all over 36" and will size XL-L.

Way down so far! Not doing anything different but maybe thats the problem, they have me figured out! These past two weeks of unseasonable warm weather cannot be helping though! Admittedly it has been a little frustrating!

Wow! That’s impressive. I went from two per day to one every two days with that warm weather. The one good thing is that I’ve had very few with mange or shoulder mites. We have the cold now and there’s a forty percent chance of a bit of snow tonight. Getting a little impatient.....lol.

Got more now than we had all last. Starting to see more with shoulder mites and mange showing up than we did earlier in the season.
