Are the 2050 known to have a reliable drag to protect IGFA tippet classes? I've heard people with mixed feelings about them.

If i was chasing records i would probably go with something a little higher end like a Loop Opti, or Galvan. What i mean is, confidence in your reel is probably critical if you're worried about protecting the lighter tippet classes.

You did get a pretty sweet reel though for the price! Cant go wrong there though.

My 2 cents

World record be damned.....will it land a 10" brookie into a cast iron pan......nothing else matters.

Bhff hey i am not sure but its better than my older reels except maybe the Hardy reel .. also i caught my 12#13oz Brookie on a Ryboi reel and a Berckley Cherrywood rod with a Williams Worbler meduim half and half and 16 inches line and a Green Doc Spratley size 8/10 it took me 1 1/2 hours to land her .. so if i can get into my Quest i hope i can land it but you know how fishing is you never know till the net sings;;;
