Default Help setting up fishfinder

I am looking for some assistance in setting the settings on my fishfinder.
I have a lowrance mark 4 on my pontoon boat. Top speed is 4mph not sure if this is relevant just trying to give any info that may help. I only fish trout lakes most of which are 20' deep or less, it's not uncommon for me to fish in water less than 12' deep.
Any info would be great or if you have a link for a website that has some good info that would help me understand what all the settings are meant for would help
Thanks wayne

Set it to shallow water for sure.

Other then that I would say play around with it out on the water and see which settings make for the best viewing for yourself.

Your unit will operate at either 83 or 200 kHz.

The 83 kHz setting will give you are wider cone so you will be able to see more bottom (wider).

This is the best setting in shallow water up to about 50'.

The 200 kHz setting gives you a smaller cone but will give you more detail.

Also set your scroll speed down to a low setting when anchored, trolling or drift fishing - as this will give you better detail as well.

Those are probably the best two things you can do to maximize your unit and use it at full potential for the way you fish.

Thanks Nate, I have already set it on shallow just thought there may be others like grayline or ping speed that I could get some advice on.
