That's a great weight from Cooper especially wearing that scope. I'd like to see the accuracy from this rig too.

What's these shooting irons worth?
All in scoped out etc.
Very nice and light packages or I should say shooting rigs!

The wife just popped out our first child. So I've been a little preoccupied. I've never had any feeding issues with my previous 280ai. This one had had a few duds cycled through the action as a test, 'COAL cycle from the mag test', so to speak. And it worked fine.

All said and done the rifle, scope and rings shipped was 6700$ish. The cerakote was additional, at a little over 700$. Yeah I know, that's crazy. But I only have 1 hunting rifke now. I've off loaded them all to afford the ONE I will carry all the time, and take all animals (imo).

I actually saved alot beasue I went with the 280ai and I already had tons or reading gear for it. I just meant I know it might seem out-rageous to some as I've had this conversation with others. I just have to remind them that I don't own anything I can't buy without cash. No quads or toys on loan from a bank. My quad is a 1000$ junker that gets the job done but I put less than 500km on it a year. My trailer is a 1970 stabbin cabin and it is a great solid unit. Vehicles paid for altough I do have a mortgage, but who doesn't. I'm very modest with my uses of items. This is a hunting rifle that I will use for.long range practice as well. My father and grandfather collected alot of firearms and when they passed my brother and I literally rolled our eyes at all the money in things that 'didn't get used'. IMO I don't see the purpose in owning things you can't use. Unless I have to money to buy things cause I can, I won't buy it unless it gets ALOT if use and I can pay for it own my own.

Congrats on the child and we are all told to be aware of the fella who owns one rifle...the freezer is always full!

Did some load development a couple weeks ago. Ladder test revealed a great node in the upper spectrum of the charge. Messed around with the coal a tiny bit finding a great load. Finished up with my 162gr ELD-M just shy of 1" at 200 yards. Verified velocity of 2886fps.

Went to an annual fun shoot yesterday and was ringing steel with all the big boys (338lm/50 cal). The mid range gong at 676 was relatively easy (when the wind was cooperative). I only managed to hit the small 1050 yard gong 1 out of 3 tries. Although I was happy to hear the impacts we're all at the right height, but just to the right due to the wind. Very happy with the new rifle. I'll be even happier when I put meat on the table with it this season!

What is your load? Speed is basically exactly the same as my Cooper 280AI, 168 Berger CH, H4831SC.

Congrats on the new addition to the family~it's a happy time!

I hear you on all of ^ that. Most guys I know (myself included) fall into a "more the merrier" situation with guns early-on, by accident...or by design. Eventually, you realize how little of it gets used....and having guns sit idle makes less and less sense over time. I never had a big collection, but at one time..had more than I ever used. I decided that I'd rather sell most...and have a smaller handful of better guns/scopes. (not "Cooper" quality, just better than I had ) Anyhow, that Cooper of yours is a beauty, and congratulations on now having your vision of the ideal gun come to fruition! What's that saying? "Beware the man who only has one gun. He probably knows how to use it!"

Sweet rig there bud,I love it all,the weight/paint/scope/cerakote.....niceeee!!! 😎
That said.....not sure how I feel about the fluted bolt??
Seems like it might be a magnet for conifer needles/snow/dirt/debris etc?
Maybe I’m just overthinking it?It looks great n all...and presuming this is maybe to be a pure mountain rifle where it might be cased or hunted above the treeline anyhow....probly won’t see much bushwackin thru the spruce and tamarack??
Congrats though, hope it shoots for ya as good as it looks.👍

Ouch! $700 for cerakoted. I must have got a steal of a deal on mine at $150 That must have included the paint on the stock as well.

How true Ram

I'm the same way, some folks like alot of stuff, others keep it simple.

I bought and sold my share of firearms over the years, but I was only able to use 4 of them as main shooters. Then in 1994 I picked up a almost new Remmy 308 tactical, it was the best thing that ever happend.

I forgot what it was like to shoot 1 gun with 1 kinda ammo, the numbers I still remover today,,, 1.5", 3", 6", 9" got that bullet out to 500 yards. Everything for hunting was 70 to 140 yards. Ha.

After 4 years I cleaned house and kept 1 bow, I ran with that for alot of years, a whole lot of seeing and not much getting,,, LOL. But I still enjoy archery to this day.

I have a couple of trucks old Quad, worn out boots, a new light weight rain suit, and a tarp to rap up in on the cold hunting days between the walks. I have my main shooting rifle, and a few farkels in the Ruck Pack.

Yuppers, the less is more program.

Sure nice stepping out the door knowing there is only 1 iron to grab that will get the job done.

Good on you Brother, at least your following a path that will work for all your needs, that's what really counts.
