Really too bad Peters had to go. I really think he had them headed in the right direction. Can’t lay that one on the GM.

Don’t see it happening in season though but the writing is on the wall for a big trade. As long as he doesn’t pull a Chia and sewer the club in a panic to save his job.

Of course that is all dependent on the Flames performance this year. Lots of season left and by no means are they out of contention for a playoff spot.
I agree with this in a normal year, but the season is 25% over and I think Flames didn't expect to be fighting for 4th place in the division. Just think where the Flames would be if they had last years offensive and this years goaltending. Did Brodie really bring that much more offense than Tanev is now bringing? Flames really didn't subtract anything up front so something is definitely not clicking.

Agreed.

This team hasn't been 'clicking' for at least 5 seasons (arguably 15 to be honest). Same story every year - "a tale of two teams"

They lack grit & consistency, because their leaders are neither.

I think we are saying the same thing. Yes the Flames could use a trade in season to shake it up immediately. But NO to the movement of the GM in season ?

I would guess any big trades Would be subject to Bean’s approval now if Treliving is on a short leash. Not sure if he is.

With all games being in division games have more meaning. Flames have been victim to slow starts this season. Figure that out, win a few and everyone is safe.

As much as I dislike em they are not incapable of winning.

Ouch that hurts to say out loud. I need a shower. Dirty Dirty ....

3-0 Montreal
We’ll go another 3-1 against Winterpeg and you clowns (we’ll lose Sat night just cause... fluke....

I have a nose for these things ya know
Never to be the one to throw my beloved Flames under the bus but I had the chance to listen to Spittin Chicklets with Johny on the show.. It was just after the Toronto game and the MT thing at the end of the game with the puck being flipped at him. Johnny's response though somewhat friendly didn't inspire confidence in me. It sounded like a older brother rolling his eyes at something else that MT had got himself into. I really wasn't impressed. Seems Johnnys time here should be up if that's the attitude in the dressing room. MT will lead this team and be the next captain. Time for the old guard to hit the road while there is still some value?
Starts around 44:30
I have to say, the first time I saw this it was audio only.. Seeing his facial expressions while he is talking makes me think I am even more right.

Don’t feel sorry. We still have games in hand and well we’re still talking Oilers. Lots of games yet to be played. But thanks for thinking of us. You in our hockey pool? Lol

Jamie that’s interesting..... he’s all meh about losing.
Complains about playing the same team three times in a row.

That’s extremely telling right there.

Pixel.... don’t say I didn’t offer mercy bub.

Yeap.. I caught that as well. Though he never has been the best interview.. I really do think it's time to say goodbye.

So hard to watch this team at times. They really missed Backlund last night. Something not right there. It's a tough year to be on the road .

This team have been this way for a while now. After seeing their effort in the playoffs last year I was done with this group. As I said the only consistency with this group is the lack of consistency. You can't trust this group to show up and play every game never mind every period. Effort and attitude is not a coaching problem, it have to come and can only come from each individual player. Pampering these guys more will only entitled them more.

Still love my Flames but done with this core group. Not going to happen. Coaching have been a revolving door for this team so at some point it is not the coach. Tre is a good GM but he doesn't play the game. I'd give him one more rebuild as the last rebuild was partially his.

This applies to MOST of the teams in the NHL...you're not alone in that thinking..what look what us Oiler fans have had to put up with, in the dark decade

This is also why junior hockey at Christmas is the best we watch all year.

A good coach will get the players to buy into and perform. The GM will bring skilled players to the coach. The Flames are currently failing at both. Can’t fire the whole team so the coach or the GM takes the hit. GM picked the coach and the coach failed so goodbye GM.

Like I said earlier though. It’s not to late for Calgary to come storming back.

In a hockey crazy market like Calgary I'm surprised the Flames went with Ward..........but not really. Bill Peters is the only coach they've ever paid top dollar for, and that ended poorly. Maybe Tre isn't on the hook for Ward, but he will take the fall.

So what do we get tonight? An embarrassed Flames team that wakes up and plays an actual competitive game? Or did they give some confidence to the Nucks and we are on our heals all game again??
I would expect the Nucks to be fired up, and I really hope we shut that down ASAP, and show they have woke up.
I would expect more shots on goal tonight.
I am calling it Flames 4-1.
Even some rough stuff tonight I figure.

Yeah I was pretty pzzzd we didn’t get Markstrom. That said Smith came back gave us 2 real solid games and some rest for Kosk. Maybe the 2 together can try to keep up with Marky.
