They opened the H1N1 clinics for everyone today. I stood in line for just 10 minutes before the deed was done. It took longer (15 minutes) sitting after the shot than the lineup. I went to Brentwood Mall in Calgary. They now seem very organized

Got the "double" Friday. Right shoulder - H1N1. Left shoulder - regular. Both were available at the time at the hospital...so took them. Kids later this week.

I was told the reactions were neausea,headaches and/or joint pain.
I have not been bothered by the first two, but my hips, shoulders and elbows are so sore I could scream every time I have to move.

Never had a flu shot and wont be in line for this propaganda....I would love to have shares of the company that makes the hand sanitizer

Sore shoulders for a couple of days. Same as the last 8 years, no problems other than that.

Headaches and shoulder /neck /back problems for 5 to 7 days. A couple of others I work with had similiar problems -- just varying degrees on the headaches. Definately reacted different than the regular flu shot.

Sounds worse than the actual flu. Guys at work were only down 2 days with flu itself.

I dunno, people I know who got it were down a helluva lot longer than two days. Definitely a nasty sickness.

I was sick with the flu last week, I spent 2 of the 6 days alternating between uncontrollable shivering and sweating buckets. Finally by the 4th day of not being able to breath I went to emergency. I couldn't walk 4 ft without feeling like I was having a heart attack. So at emerg the tell me I have H1N1, they give me Tamiflu, a ventilator and a puffer and send me home. The next day I get a call from my Dr.'s office and he wants to see me ASAP! So I drag my sick butt in there and he's upset to learn that I was diagnosed with H1N1 without having been actually tested. So he sends me off to the lab for blood tests and a respiratory test. Once I got the labs back I find out that I had the regular old run of the mill seasonal flu!

My Dr. said the emergencies and walk in clinics are over diagnosing the flu. The consensus has been, anyone that comes in displaying flu like symptoms are to be handled as though they have H1N1 but that is precautionary! My dr. said they aren't supposed to be diagnosing everyone with it, just taking precautions until it is determined whether a person does or does not have it. He said all this is doing is padding the numbers of actual H1N1 cases and that it leaves people with a false sense of security because if they planned on getting the vaccine they won't now thinking they've already had it.

I was planning on getting the shot and for how sick I was with the regular flu there is no doubt that I will get it once I'm able, I'm still recovering, it is amazing what the flu can take out of you. For as sick as I was I don't want an even mild version of the swine flu. My Doc suggests I still get both, the H1N1 and regular flu shot because I can still get another strain of the flu. This is the first bout of the flu I've had in about 7 years and it tried to make up for lost time.

So for those that get sick and automatically think they have swine flu, the seasonal flu is alive and well out there and unless you're tested there is no way of knowing forsure if you have it or not. I was also told that the regular flu this year that people are commonly getting is respiratory like what I had and people are getting freaked out and self diagnosing H1N1.

Lastly, I guess the Gov of AB is feeling bad over how they handled the whole vaccine fiasco because they are paying for Tamiflu. Just wanted to share that even though I feel I need the vaccine there certainly is much hysteria out there about H1N1 from both citizens and in the medical field. People are self diagnosing and the medical are over diagnosing.

Funny, I've never had sore shoulder before. Had regular flu shot a couple weeks ago, totally fine like always. Had the H1N1 last week and I DID have a sore shoulder for a couple days afterwards. Very minor pain, no big deal, but it was still there. Weird.

X2 on the sore shoulder, it makes it hard to sleep at night I sure hope it goes away soon

Both were diagnosed. Our company has been tracking and documenting everyone who calls in sick now (technically I guess they always do), but are documenting H1N1 positive cases.

I got the shot on Saturday, felt like crap ever since. Had a fever of 39.3 last night, fever gone now though. Side effects for younger people are often fever, but over all side effects are fever, headache, overall muscle stiffness, sore throat, vomiting. If the fever last more than 2 days go to the doctor...luckily mine didn't...but holy crap have i felt like a big pile of **** these past couple days.

I sure hope those that decided not to go for the shot because they don't trust the medical field will stand by their convictions if they become sick themselves and DON'T see a doctor. I believe if you turn down the flu shot then become sick and seek medical attention you should pay for your medical care out of pocket for your treatment.How much does one flu shot cost compared to the medical treatment costs of one patient ? A few bucks vs tens of thousands of dollars?
I will take my chances with a few side effects before Death every single time.How many inoculations have the average Albertan received by age 50? Did you die from those? Remember those were developed by the same drug companies that you now don't trust.And who's telling us this is bad for us and what real proof have they offered to support these claims?My 95 year old grandmother was telling me other other day that during the polio outbreak there was alot of rumbling that the vaccine would give you polio and some opted out and became crippled or worse. Iron lungs don't sound fun.
My father has been knocked down with this flu for the last 3 weeks and to see that tough old git on his ass like that made me realize that its nothing to mess with. He has never missed a week of work in his life but hasn't been in the office for 3 weeks now.Anything sickness that keeps a workaholic away from work must be bad in my books.

I firmly believe everyone should be paying for their own medical care, whether or not they took the shot. I stand by my decision -- to not get the shot -- 100%. I got pretty sick, for a week, and since then have felt great.

The difference between Polio and the flu -- we aren't regularly exposed to Polio to build up any sort of immunity. We are, however, regularly exposed to flu's. Perhaps this specific strand is slightly different, but it's still just a flu. We have a certain amount of immunity from being exposed to the flu each year.

I'm, by no means, a doctor and don't expect you to take advice from me, but I could care less what any government agency tells me. I will let my body fight the flu just like it has been doing, without issue, for 26 years ... naturally.
