Default Another difficult day bear hunting

Well my brother and I Spent most of sat driving around looking for bears, put on 500 km and didn't see one.... Seen some tracks and other sighn but no bruins poked there head out. After the let down of not being able to bait this year and spending tons of time with the spot an stalk all I can say is I hope the snow melts early next year. The clock is ticking.....way to fast lol anyone else seeing bears around the rocky mountain house area? (not over a bait)

If the weather stays warm, by next weekend they should be out in full force. Patience.

I guess not all of us have te luxury of cramming all of our hunting into the last two weeks of the season.......WT? is the point of a season that opens April 1 and ends at the end of may when the bears don't even come out till the last couple weeks of may. Seems idiotic to me. Ya there's seasons open later up north... But again not everyone has the luxury of taking time off work for a week to go up and fill a tag. Possibly you could suggest a solution?

As they say, a bad day, hunting, is better than a Good day, working. My planned Hunt just got put off for a week, at least. Work came up that needs to be done NOW and money is tough to say no to. Still time.

Heading up to whitecourt area this weekend for a spot and stalk. Doesn't sound like many have had luck this year. A few, but no where near where I'd like it to be. Wish me luck.

I have to laugh at this. Our earliest bear was on april 1 2007 4 hrs after we set up our first bait. We where on our way out from setting up our second bait and there he was at our first. My son got a nice six footer last year on the sixth of april. They are out but u just have to be at the right place at the right time. Good luck and enjoy the outdoors.

I understand that. If they are out hitting baits they are out looking for food. Sometimes they are out early and sometimes they are not.

Try the Nordegg area, I think you will have higher chances of seeing a bear spot and stalk hunting that area opposed to Rocky. I spend a ton of time in the Rocky area in Sept. and I have never ran into a bear except over baits in the spring.
