The UV stuff is becoming more and more popular. Not just for fly fishing. But for all fishing. They even use UV dyes for herring in the ocean. They just use a UV based dye for the material. If you shine a UV light on the flies that you make with the material you will see them light up like a stop sign. But having said that there is UV light from the sun. But what about cloudy days.

I have used UV products in my flies for some time now. I still find the stubtle flies like a prince nymph and a hare's ear nymph still outfish the UV flies at least 10 to 1.

Now for the record. I have built more than 300 custom rods and still have about 4 to $5000 worth of rod building supplies from my rod building company. I know what good components are, and what cheap components are and what a good blank is and what a cheap blank is. I won't go into detail. But all I will say is that I think Brianscott is onto something. He is off with his component pricing. But I do believe he hits the mark on the quality issue for the price charged.
