I was at WSS North the other day looking to pick up some shells and there were 2 young guys looking to see one of the guns behind the counter. The older salesman said and I quote " that plastic piece of ****?"
It was none of my business and still isnt but I was tempted to talk to a manger about it. I was so disgusted I left without purchasing anything, and so did the 2 looking at the firearm.

Buying multiple SKS at a local gs, clerk asked "Are you guys starting something?" I said "No, we're finishing something". Dude looked startled.

Was at the gun counter at WSS Calgary and when my number came up I was greeted by a fellow that must have just graduated high school. I asked if I could take a look at the Lyman flintlock Trade Rifle, & he says "Oh, you don't want one of those things."
Curious as to why he would suggest this, I ask "And why is that?"
He replies, "They misfire on every third shot."
"Every third shot, every time. Without fail?" I ask.
He earnestly replies, "Yeah. You should go for a percussion model instead."
I look to the older guy next to him and repeat my initial question. When he hands me the rifle he says "Good choice. Lyman flintlocks are extremely reliable rifles & quite affordable too."
Out of the corner of my eye, I see the guy next to me shake his head and walk away from the gun counter.
I can understand if the young man is inexperienced, but he shouldn't be giving advice on things that he obviously has no knowledge about.

re the above:
Many young men can't help themselves in regards to giving advice about things they know fa about. It's part of being young. I'm not young anymore and still do it from time to time...

My favorite from a gun shop owner who was talking to a customer looking at a 10/22 is: "The reason that the Ruger 10/22 is so good is that it was originally designed in 223 for the Unites States Army".

I overheard a guy at a local shop ask for high powered lamps to go pitlamping with, unfortunately he was not joking as a select few native bands here on Vancouver Island were 'given' the right to use lights to aid their "hunt" by our spineless government.
I left the store without buying anything, haven't been back since.

Cabelas - Difference between a 308 and 30-06
While standing at the gun counter in Cabelas, a guy was asking what the difference between a .308 and a 30-06 was?
The sales guy replied - the 30-06 shoots a bigger caliber bullet then the .308.
I shook my head and had to interject. Sales guy wasnt too happy about it.

I remember a fella coming into a shop one day looking at used bows. He wanted one so he could get permission on a place. He ended up buying an old steel cabled compound, wrong handed. Didn't care, had to have it, to be able to go get his permission. Don't think he bought arrows either. Never heard how he made out.

I think I know of that guy!
Told the landowner he was going to only bow hunt at the landowners request and then gunned a deer with his shotgun and got the entire place shut down to ALL HUNTING....

I overheard a gun counter guy tell a potential customer that the ejector screw on a 303 No4Mk1 was actually a mounting hole for a scope.
I had to bite my tongue....

I once read a post about a Tikka T3 that had a bolt closure issue compared to a LE bolt heaf not being screwed in all the way. No name mentioned, but there was no gun counter involved.

Moral of this story is that most clowns reside on "this" side of the counter. Althoug no one is willing to talk about that.

Actually, I think there might be some truth in that. There's a type of base that does use that hole as a fastening point. You just have to replace the ejector screw with one that's longer to compensate for the thickness of the mount.
It might be the original method they used to attach a scope to a no4mk1(T) but I'm not sure.

The No4Mk1 sniper rifle uses a different front base and the mounting holes are further ahead of the original ejector screw hole.
Some sights do use the ejector screw as you mentioned, but the ejector screw has never been used as a scope mount that I know of. I have been shooting the Enfield for over 40 years and I have yet to see it used as a scope mount. I guess "bubba" could find a use for it......

Hmm... a scope mount for a .303 that only fits a .308. Seems like a good thread to post that link in.

The other day I was at the counter pulled my ticket and waited my turn. Just as I'm waiting for that little digital screen to roll over to 'ol 53 a guy down the way storms the counter and demands to know who was runnin' things cause he's been waitin' more that 15 minutes and doesn't have all day. The kid at the counter looks up and shakily asks out loud if anyone had any objections to this fella cuttin line. Surprisingly, no one objects. Well I couldn't hear exactly what the discussion was but it looked like the fella got a couple hundred grams of cappicoli, some smoked ham and went on his way.

The first one is mostly hunting/wildlife related.....but I'll post anyways.
WSS south store Nov 5th of this year.
I walk up to the gun counter and a twenty something guy is looking over a savage axis while talking to the counter guys about the deer population in east central AB where I take it he is from: "Yea F and W flew a survey and found x amount of deer north of the hiway and x amount south of the hiway".
Then:
"They (F and W) came around handing out 30-06 shells to us locals to assist in the culling, but us locals told them to stuff it because of them relocating cougars and elk in our back yards without telling us. I know this because we locals have had to pull them out when they get stuck".
He then hands the gun back to the counter guy and says: "Well if I buy one it will be in .223 and not 22-250 as the .223 is a older more established cartridge and easier to find ammo for. The 22-250 is pretty rare and not as good".
What a moron.
Locally 2 weeks ago.
A guy I assumed to be late 30's is telling the counter guy that his son was drawn for moose that year and he bought the kid a .338 win mag and he has not let him practice or shoot it much because he does not want the kid to develop a flinch.
Moron number 2 for the month.

At WSS Calgary. There is a really old fart working the firearms desk, and if you've been there a few times you should know who I'm talking about. If he calls my number I just pretend that I never picked a number up haha. I've recieved good help from a bunch of other guys there.
Anyways, I was there yesterday and a younger cowboy looking dude wants a lever action .22, so I'm listening to them talk and old guy says they don't have any .22 ammo whatsoever, no idea when they are going to get some in. As the guy picks up his new rifle and walks to the front, another employee opens boxes and starts laying boxes of .22 ammo out. I caught up with cowboy and old guy at the checkout and told him they are putting out a bunch of .22 ammo, old guy gives a "whatever, musta just got it in".
