Sorry to sidetrack gwh12, don't know where any barrels/ drums are...but you made my day with the title of the thread...."3 months till bear season"...thank you!

you can also use 5 gal plastic pails . these make a god option for test site where you are looking for an area to bait

Or dig a bit of a pit and cover with logs. Looks more natural and a bit more hiden as well.

As for the beaver dont get to carried away with them at the start. they work very wel for the stink but not "all" bears take to them so are sweet lovers and some are oats and greasers so it help to have a bit of everything at your site to start with and them find out what they like

Only thing to watch out for with using plastic pails is not to cut a slit in the side of it. We've had bears hook their claws in the little slit we made, lean back and rip it completely apart. If using 5 gallon pails I would make a small hole in the bottom and have the bucket a couple feet high. Then they have to mouth at it instead of using there paws/body weight.

I use mostly plastic barells and I get them from champion technologies.

I use the steel ones with the removeable lids just for the meat.

I can't wait to get out bear hunting
