There is a product you can purchase at your nurseries / garden centres.. It is a dried blood meal substance, works pretty good. Not sure the name of it.

Default deer repellant

string out monofilament about deers eye height around the trees. One or two strands should work. Iknow it sounds strange but I know 2 people personally that used it and it worked. Piker

I've seen predator urine advertised as a pest repellant. Check out a trapping supply store for coyote/wolf/cougar urine. I've never tried it myself but the reviews I saw on the website sounded promising.

Default Deer deterrent

If you tie 10 " pieces knitting wool on that fishing line

Or wire. The wool flapping in the breeze bugs them Irish spring hand soap. Cheap cut bar into 6 pcs.

Drill hole in piece and make loop hang on trees .

Works like a charm. Dial works as well

I know sound goofy works on Okotoks deer

It's been a hard winter...I live on the north edge of town with there being a hay field and then the highway and have mule deer coming right into the yard and driveway. They sure do like the pine and spruce needles as well as the hedge along the yard.
Yes, I put some feed out for them sometimes. Afterall, they are hungry.
Just heard last week of a pack of coyotes taking down a young deer just north of town where I live and eating it in 20 minutes...this was 4 coyotes. And then they fought over the head.
It seems all wild animals are suffering with the hard and heavy snowpack this winter.

Up until the end of December the whitetails were feeding pretty heavy on my bales right in the yard. Over the last couple weeks I have not seen any fresh tracks at all. Hopefully the coyotes haven't killed all the ones I've been feeding.
