Default Hunter host for small game ?

was asked the other day if non residents could come to AB. and hunt small game like gophers and such with out a hunter host .. Didn't have the answer . Anyone know ? I know they can hunt bird game , but not big game without it . Since they need a wolf / coyote licence to hunt coyotes does it apply here too ? Thanx for any help ..

As far as I know you don't need one for varmint type animals. I'd check the regs or call the local F&W office if you can't find anything in the regs.

For gophers there is no problem. Coyotes, even a resident has a season to hunt in and needs a license, just not a tag.

non residents do not need a licence to hunt gophers and an Alberta resident does not need a licence to hunt coyotes. Non residents do not need a host or guide to hunt game birds but do need a host or guide for some small and big game animals.

just remember how much time you saved getting them ready for the table so those clients could take those little wrapped steaks home to the family.
