Default Jiffy white lighining auger

Last year I bought the JIffy white lighining late in the season at only used it a few times. Well, I fired her up today. It works good and is easy to start. Is there a method to useing it, so that the water doesn't soak your boots when you pull it out.

Simple! Get somebody else to do it for you...way easier (and drier) than doing it yourself!

That's what I'll be doing the next few months.

One ways is the rubber boots of course but you could also stop it from spinning before you pull it out and pull out slowly.

Also, don't forget to lock your auger to the ice so it doesn't walk away on you.

Sorry I couldn't resist, hopped up on pain killers.

As i am drilling and snow is building up around the hole i keep kicking it away from only half the hole. Just before breaking through i lift the auger up fast at full throttle to get all the snow out of the hole. I then turn and stand on the side where i didnt kick the snow away and use that snow as a birm.

I keep the auger running lower in the hole to get the rest of the slush out, then as mentioned lift it out at idle. The white lightening turns very fast, so not much you could do. And yes waterproof boots are a must

The water that splashes on you freezes quite quickly, so just go hard, and dry your pant legs off at home. Thats what I do...
