Was out on Cold lake Friday and Saturday, lots of non legal lakers. None over 75cm. Pike are starting to get really active, in french's bay kids could hardly keep hammer handle size off our lines. Was getting lakers north east of provincial park boat launch. at about 30 ft deep.

We were catching them from 40 feet down to 55 feet didnt have much luck fishing less then 35 feet. We had to adjust are depth each time we went out they were never at the same depth for very long.

Default Depth

Was using the cold lake special tipped with herring and slammed them all day between 65-100ft deep. Little man caught a 73 cm. we hooked tons none bigger than 75cm but a blastt. The new legal length will sure keep it a great fishing experience. Should get better with time now you really have to fish for a keeper. Only way I like lakers is smoked. Cheaper to go buy a salmon at the store then it is to drive to cold lake. It's not about keeping for us but when a 4 year old catches a 73cm that's almost his size I love the look in his eyes. I think he is hooked the fishing bug for life now. Will have to hit the Martino inlet one day for walleye. The price of gas is sure limiting how many trips we can take. Need to find someone to split gas I guess.

Savagencounter, were you fishing in a red Lund? I was there Friday and Saturday, and watched a fellow with his young one having a ball. We caught 100 fish in those two days. Nothing over 11 lbs, but stellar fishing nonetheless! I have found my new "favorite" lake, and am heading back tomorrow for three more days. I've paid big money for two fly-in trips, and not had that much fun.
