Default Released a Provincial Record

So yesterday we were Walleye fishing and tied into something big. Big Pike are very common so we assumed it was a 20 lb Pike. Got it up to the boat & discovered it was a Burbot. A BIG Burbot. Just for fun we weighed it and then released it. Weight came in just shy of 22 lbs. When we got back to camp we were telling the guy next to us about it, he went and got the reg book and showed us that the Alberta record is only 18 and change. Wish we would have known this, we would have got better measurments! What a cool fish, longer than my arm and his head was about as big as mine. Very cool

I'm also going to have to ask for a pic cause you know that if it wasn't caught by me then it's not a sure record

The best way to prove your posted claim to the suspicious, sarcastic non-believers is to post a picture it and be done with it.

Simply prove them wrong and clear your name so you do not damage your credibility by making a claim that does, with all do respect, sound like a very common fish tale told many, many time on this forum and many others.

I for one, will be glad to congratulate you on an outstanding once in a lifetime achievement.

I bet there have been many many +20lb burbot caught and eaten or released.

A lot of fisherman have no idea about currents records. Others have no interest and some intentionally release record fish when they catch them.

Can't blame a guy for not wanting to post pics here either.

Burbot are cool and under enormous fishing pressure in AB.

Its your accomplishment, you were there and had a witness, something to be proud of and remember for the rest of your life. What other people think is only important to them. Congratulations on your fish!

Nice.. don't listen to the pics or it didn't happen people. I am so sick of seeing that. I have caught and released some huge fish and never took a pic. A lot of time is eaten up with pulling the fish out of the water and trying to get the picture right. A lot of times even though the fish swims away they end up dying.

As for all you "pics or it didn't happen" people...

I don't believe you have ever seen a woman naked... pics or it didn't happen.

LOL

Congrats! I would have kept it to have my name put in the record books! Or just for a heavy feast of poor mans lobster!

First off: Congrats on catching a great fish! I personally would've liked to see a picture not to verify but just to appreciate it.

Second: I think people need to relax a bit, geeze. Most people who say "pics or it didn't happen", aren't necessarily doubters, I think they are just saying it because they'd like to see some pics of nice fish (deer, moose etc). I know that is why I say it.

If you caught a nice fish, whether its a world record, personal best or just a fish, why not share it with your fellow anglers? It's great that technology allows us to post about our experiences & accomplishments so why not enhance a good story with some pics? If some BD wants to "call you out" because of something in the pics, that's their problem not yours. I always think it's "worth it" to post pics and I love seeing them & appreciate the people that take the time to post them.

Mini rant over

I post pictures to share. That is what this forum is about. Far more supporting people on this site then DB's. It is your choice to share but you already came half way and I'm sure you have a few anglers including me who feel a little teased, hehe. Dont let the 5% off people on here who just want to call someone out OVER THE INTERNET ruin it for everyone else. Most of those *******s have nothing better to do anyway. They need some more time on the water i think.

See not all people have the ability to post pics, I only use AO while at work( cause when I am not here I am fishing) and am unable to post pics at work.. Had to request intranet access to this site so i could even get to it, its prohibited because when company secutrity does check words like guns and bullets come up so blocks us...

Maybe one day I will share pics but 90% of fish I catch I am with someone for this forum...

Dont get me worng if I was to catch a HUGE fish then yeah maybe i would make an effort haha
