As of late, the content hunters choose to put online has become incredibly important. We paint the general picture of hunting with the pictures be post online. The general uninformed public have no other resource to base their opinion on. People are busy.

Don’t listen to some anonymous guy, but look at the evidence. It’s not about hiding, it’s about being smart.

Sweet headache/winch rack sir.

One of the worst comparisons I ever read on this forum. Bet ya had to google hard and deep to find that one, if its even true.

I ain''t portraying nothing just transporting a moose. Got it? And I did not go out of my way.

Wiring to the truck or independent battery? I would go to the truck myself a little more work and worming wires but ya just got to do it once. Might have to buy extra wire as the kit wires are short. That rack should do it good luck with the moose. Make sure ya cover it with a tarp.

A guy could actually order one of them roll up awnings and attach it to the top of the headache rack ............ you know ............ to hide the carnage ....... and protect our children.

Just teasing guys ......

Front mount winch and a snatch block. Drag the beast onto the road adjacent to a decent sized tree. Drive into the ditch, place the snatch block as high as you can and winch the bugger in.

some good ideas here , I see nothing wrong with Hondas pic either . We managed fine last year with just a nice slope but only took half the cow moose at a time . Just two guys and a sled but had snow . Bull moose maybe in the next year or two . Have a removable winch to top of head ache rack and plywood with quad ramps .

I went with 4ga. To main battery. All wiring running to a plastic case I mounted in truck box then ran winch button to the back of the box under the rail. Control it while standing by tailgate. Will post pics when I have time.

i helped 2 friends load a moose into his truck last year with one 2 x 6 and a couple of straps.. got it in there in one piece. Total pain in the butt and didnt think we would do it without cutting it up.

For a ramp ive had friends use 4 2 x 6's to help slide the moose into the truck in one piece. A cheap ramp but it works if you have the man power to pull the moose into the truck.

I agree it becomes much messier if you cut the moose in half to get it into the truck but 2 guys can at least load it.

I played with an idea close to that. Anything heavier than a deer and you end up pulling the d loops inward wrecking the interior of your box. Perhaps if you had a solid timber in between the d loops so the wouldn't pull inward. Getting your moose partially onto the board in that fashion would be an exercise fit for the hulk himself

This is the exact method I described in post# 53. Worked like a slick darn when I had a bad back to lift a WT deer I.to the back of my truck

A little more progress on the headache rack.

Finished the wiring. Used a little plastic box I had to house the wiring. Went with 4 ga. wire right to the battery.

I ran the winch control back along the box rail and mounted it by the tailgate.

Then I built a ramp. I glued two sheets of 1/2 plywood together. then put a 1x6 on each edge, ripped it in half and put a 1x4 on the inside edge with three heavy hinges.

I also mounted my jack-all and tool box full of rigging/straps.

Thanks for the ideas and advice. Now to get a moose or a big bodied deer and try it out.

Should be fine. You can get a wireeless remote on Amazon cheap to make it even better when moving legs and horns as you winch in. You wont need that snatch block. . A 2000# is more than able on a single line. If it needs the snatch something is hung up and damage is going to happen. Looks good.

The one beside your truck. Motor seems missing.

Thanks Dean! The only things I would do differently at this point is put a few chain links on it to hook straps to. I will also need to build a small ramp for my quad Bumper to clear the winch.

Extendable roller system instead of ramps is what the fish cops have, I'm sure they've loaded a whole moose or two before.

Geez, I was just thinking this same thing the other day, for me Im mounting a rack and then I will make a little pedestal to sit on top of rack, and mount a boat winch to it. As for ramps I am using 2 2X8s, works for me, the ramp anyway. Rack and winch are in progress for next year
