Default Big Perch

I just started fishing for perch this winter and have managed to catch them on a fairly regular basis, however, I caught one way bigger then the others I have been catching and I just wanted to know, what is concidered big for a perch? this one seemed huge to me.

Wow I guess we have a photoshop expert here.

Looked pretty legit to me.
Why is it we assume someone photoshopped something when they have a great success.

I caught one about that size in december of last year. 14.5", my personal best. That is a dandy of a perch, might get one every few years that big in Alberta if your lucky. Nice fish. Legit pictures too.

Give it a rest Morph, I could give a crap about how many years you've spent using photoshop. If you can't figure out how a measuring tape could possiby orient itself along the soft dorsal fin and pass behind the spiny dorsal fin you might need a lesson in spacial relations. The fish will obviously have a much larger girth as you proceed forward from the tail section. If the tape is laying flat on the table as in the picture, it actually makes more sense for it to pass behind the dorsal as this fin will be further away from the table due to the broadness of the back beneath the dorsal. Make sense or do you need a diagram? Just accept the picture for what it is....a nice perch. Good catch burningfreak, hopefully you get a few more like that, they are a blast through the ice.

Morph is a 100 % right . Look at the Anatomy of a perch .

Of course it might not be so pronounced on the Perch in question , but sure dont see it . Maybe im missing it

I gotta say I'm no Photoshop expert but the pics looks real to me. What is it that you are talking about that's missing BBJ?

Here's a 13.25 and a 13.5 incher that I took last week. With the camera angle, these ones look like the dorsal has a horizontal line at its base or am I missing something?

In the pictures you posted , the lateral line coming from the tail is more towards the middle of the fish .

In the one that burningfreak posted look how high it comes .

I might be wrong , but doesnt seem 100 % right to me . But have been wrong once or twice , and willing to admit it . Also look at the his hands , theres no way dudes fist is most likely 4inches maybe 4 1/2 long - compare that to the fish length....the fish should be at least 4 times bigger then his fist and it's not .

Not that I really care . And agian who knows Maybe im wrong . No matter fake or not I bet it tasted good .

Not sure if the photos were changed or not, but a nice perch. If you look back at the ones I posted, the lateral line is not down the middle on the big ones either. In fact, I have never seen big perch that have the line right down the middle. The ones I have caught, the line is always towards the dorsal fin on the pot bellied ones. I do not believe for a minute though that that fish is only 12 inches as Morph states.

Thumbs up Nice

fishtrapper's son (age 12)

nice ones, I went this weekend and caught a 14 inch then threw my line back down the hole and caught a 12 inch right after . there is lots of tiny perch, you can look down the hole and watch them sneak up on your line.
