Default RV window repair

We broke one of the windows on our Augusta RV. Rock came thru from lawn mower. Any suggestions as I don't want to haul trailer out. ?

If the window pane comes out just take it into the glass shop. Otherwise call the mobile glass guys, either way, far cheaper than going to the RV dealer. I have not had to use one since we moved back to Edmonton so can't recommend one over another. Calgary I used Crystal Glass and Kings Glass, both good.

Default Crystal Glass

I had a side window break last year and took it in to Crystal glass in St Albert. Very reasonable.

A friend had a mishap with a window on his 5th wheel and the same Crystal Glass sent someone out and repaired it in his driveway.

The window has to have heat treatment.
Cheapest is remove the window frame, easy to do.
Take the frame to a glass shop. They will make
a template and get the glass heat treated.
They with install the glass into the old frame.
Then you can install.

Generally no. Most RV glass is 3 or 4 mm tempered auto glass, mounted with pop-in rubber moulding. Plexiglass that thin is way too flexible, and greater thicknesses will not fit..

I just had to do this for my trailer. Took out the whole window, taped a garbage bag over the hole, took it to Crystal Glass for their custom measuring and fit (took 2 weeks to get the glass), paid $160 and that included new butyl rubber sealant stripping to re-install the window.

What kind of trailer and what shape is the window? I broke a window out of my RPod last year. I ended up calling Forest River and they mailed me a window based off the VIN and it was about 250$. I tried getting a custom window made and it was a PIA! How the frame was made no local shop could get the replacement glass inside the frame. Sure sucks! Of late all my expenses have been due to my own stupidity or not being patient...

As long as the glass is flat a glass shop will be able to replace, removing/replacing RV windows is very easy. It's recommended to replace the butyl after 10 years not a hard job easier on a hot day or use a heat gun and a plastic knife the tape is like chewing gum.
