Default Knot glue

Anybody use knot glue when tying on swivels, lures, and such?

I just spooled up a reel with Fireline Crystal and the stuff seems kinda on the slick side. I figure a dab of glue might be a good idea, and it probably wouldn't hurt when I'm using braided lines in general.

Also, is this stuff any different from say, super glue?

I've been wondering the same thing. I think I'm just going to try some super glue. I also just spooled up some Fireline and it does seem a bit more slippery than Power Pro. With the Power Pro I was using a good dollop of spit and that seemed to work well.

Hey man...never have use the knot glue but I know after 14 years of using fireline that I have never had a knot slip if it was tied correctly, just like it tells you on the little slip included in the box....thats a hell of alot of fish and even more snags!

I have another reel with regular Fireline on it, and it isn't so bad, but this Fireline Crystal almost feels like waxed dental floss. If you get to it before me, let me know how the superglue works out

What does the slip in the box say? I just got the guy at TFH to spool it up from the bulk spool

I just checked the slip that came with mine, and it shows the Palomar knot which is what I've been using with Power Pro. Is this the knot that your talking about thorne?

Man I'd love to come out with you guys, but I'm stuck in First Aid training for the next two days

Might have to try for the river again this weekend though?

I've read to use the Palomar knot with the braided lines, and I've had good luck with it so far I guess this waxy feeling stuff just has me paranoid

Ya don't worry about it..ive used the crystal and its fine...only thing I find helps is when you snug it up after you pass through the loop, don't snug all the way...get it close then snug the dead end tight and then the running end last by pulling tightly on the swivel or what ever else you tied on there...not sure if it really makes a difference, but it seems to really lock it in there..

Ive used the Fireline Crystal all winter without any slips. I think the best knot to use with the crystal is the trilene fishing knot. I added a simple overhand knot just to make sure.

FYI it is teflon, the same stuff they coat frying pans with so your eggs don't stick!. It helps prevent massive knots while keeping the braid itself from breaking as the individual fibres rub against each other during use.

Even though it feels slick in your hands, when tying a knot it would have very little effect on the holding strength.
