Awesome Tuna, anyone ever seen the documentary about the "Tuna cowboys"? Craziest fishing i've ever seen, i believe it aired on the discovery channel as an episode in a series, i'd to watch again if i could track it down.

Touching the rod seems like such a silly way to disqualify it. Does touching it mean he brushed up against it or does it mean he actually helped him bring the fish in?

means he had his hand on the rod at some point, not that he accidentally brushed up against the rod.
