Posting every kill on the internet is going to be the major reason hunting is shut down, but hunters aren't learning. The non-hunting majority are seeing this and speaking out. The BC Grizz hunt was shut down because it was 'socially unacceptable'. Not because the species is threatened. Not sure how the natives can changed their kills to make them socially acceptable? Everyone is seeing this stuff posted all over the web. Never used to happen. You make your business everyone else's, they will make their's yours!! Jim Shockey looked whipped on that feed, I think he sees what's coming.

His comments at 8:20 echo what Walking Buffalo has been suggesting will happen. Interesting.

Laureen Harper wouldn't have even known that Steve Ecklund killed that cat if he hadn't posted his kill all over the internet! I personally loved the pic's, but I'd rather preserve my hunting heritage for my kids than post.

I agree with some of the comments in that we should not be posting stuff on social media. Besides stroking one's ego, It does nothing but add an extra nail to the coffin to shut down hunting in our life time. Just text the picture to the buddies you are close with. Why post online?

We as hunters have to realize that times have changed and we are walking on egg shells where every wanker out there has access to social media and one way or another and pictures and stories will surface.

Yours in good hunt'n,

CH

Personally I'd like to see the police do something about all of the death threats hunters often get when they post a photo on social media.

I wholeheartedly agree with you CH. Why not enjoy your time in pursuit, the fruits of your hard work and share it privately with your friends. Social media can be fruitful at times, but it also can be ammunition for the other crowd. Use it wisely or not at all.

And I likewise agree with Scott N's post. Death threats or any kind of harm is not acceptable and should be dealt with to the full extent of the law.

Didn't appreciate him stooping to the anti level by sensationalizing, "baby animals". Nor playing the race card, "color of skin".

Got to be responsible with how you treat your fellow hunters these days, don't want to go setting a precedent that can bite you in the axe, some day down the road. JMHO

As much as I like Jim Shockey, I truly believe that our very own huntinstuff would have delivered the message with more authority and clarity.

As a life long hunter and trapper I can't believe how stupid we are today.

With all the bragging and blowing done on the media it's no wonder the public hates us.

I like these guys who call it like it is, we shouldn’t have to sugar coat everything for the risk of offending certain people, but yet they nail us working class to the cross all day long for hunting legally! Like really, where do these clowns think their welfare checks come from? Everyone should be treated equally, no special treatment, no, you get to wear a mask when you buy restricted firearms, no, you get to hunt because of race, no, you get ten million dollars for being a terrorist, all these idiots they offend me with their stupid ideas, they offend me by discriminating against me, but I ain’t gonna cry like them, I’ll keep working, keep fishing, keep hunting, with no special rights or privileges, I will never be silent, and will call it like I see it. Shockey has got it right.

Default Hunting

Here is my take and my skin is thick.

My grandfather hunted, my father hunted and I hunt.

My two boys will never hunt because my ex took them off and raised them in the concrete jungle.
They could panhandle on a city street corner and survive, but never in the bush. Sorry got side tracked.

When I was younger (before all this social media stuff) you would have possibly read or heard through the grapevine about the large cougar killed.

Your buddy may have brought you the article from some hunting magazine for you to see and read.

There would be a good chance Mrs. Harper would never had seen it.

In this day of INSTANT relay of information, good or bad it happens.
If we want to feed into the frenzy, then so do it!!

Myself, I will share pictures in person with my hunting family, face-to-face.

I am not interested in getting slammed by the Mrs. Harper's, Miley Cyrus's or any of the other anti hunting cult of this world.

Unfortunately we are becoming the minority.

They're probably just compensating for something. Large vaginas possibly.

I'm sorry but I'm not buying into all the ***** talk about not posting your kills on the web, first off, we have had hunting magazines for decades and they STILL show pictures of kills and these magazines are available where all the liberals and socialist pass by, when will they stop that publishing? Secondly, when you stop doing what you believe is your right to show you LEGAL kill on the net then you are the problem !! I will in no way give up to the antis or the leftist because they had their feelings hurt by the posting of a LEGAL kill. And to all you that think I,m wrong, (which several of the continual posters on this site) you have your opinion and I have mine.

Obviously I am a hunter. I still cannot get used to walking up to a dead animal with gobs of blood out the nostrils or the mouth. For a split moment I think of the animal and hope there was no suffering and I thank God for this beautiful bounty.
This is something the rest of the world does not see from us as hunters, our humanity and our gratefulness for the gift that we have been given.
When we post things for everybody to see, we can't expect them to understand. They see one beautiful majestic animal on the ground with blood all over it. The sight upsets them and off they go. We don't need to give the rest of the world a reason to take away from us a way of life that is pleasing and rewarding to us. We will never convert them to our way of thinking . We have all kinds of hunting forums that we can post on without drawing attention to us. So stop posting on social media! Don't do it. Like Bob Newhart used to say on the psychiatrist skit " STOP, STOP IT"
Just my .02

I think the problem with Facebook is the majority of people don’t have any privacy settings so any fruit loop can see what they are posting. This is a hunting/fishing/outdoor forum. I think we should be able to post pics on here if we want. Maybe if we each had to pay a $5.00/yr subscription it could be private and eliminate a few trolls and scammers.
