Default google maps version

I created a Google Map version. Still really basic but I'm hoping to add some more features in the next month http://outdoorsmanapp.com

I have seen a few requests for sharing from my Google account, which should work, but seems to be having issues. I have added a torrent file for those who'd like another source.

Cheers,

Chris

I also changed the sharing status in Google so that may solve some of the issues.

Very very cool you all have taken the time to do this! I downloaded it on my iPhone tonight and it does exactly what I think it's supposed to shows what WMU you are in. I only hunt waterfowl so I don't see a advantage to having this on my phone but cool nonetheless.

Maybe I'm missing the point but I don't see a advantage for my limited hunting use.

Default Here is the map I made in Google

Hey Guys, Here is the map that I made:

www.albertahuntingwmu.com

It works really well and I use it on my smart phone so that when Log In, it automatically tells me what WMU i'm in and what I can hunt there. ( all the rules and regs). I also have it setup so that I can plan out my trip with it and I place a marker on all the places I have seen good spots or found good herds.

Right Now I only have the log in setup for me to use, let me know if you want one so that you can plan out your trip and place markers where you have seen big bucks. It will also tell you the regs etc.

The other pieces is that I've only included the WMU's that I hunt in. I can add other ones if you guys want.

you can email me at albertawmu2011@gmail.com

Where did you get the shape files for the boundarys? Are they on a website? Have you ever played with globalmapper, you can open up shapefiles with it much the same as ozi, but you can then load them directly on your gps with it

If you made this Into an iPhone app, I would definately pay 5$ for it

You should be able to view it on your iphone already. Just download the Google Earth app on your iphone and then open up the KML file. Same applies to the Ipad.

Thank you. It works great.

Just as a .02 suggestion, maybe you'd put a watermark number inside each WMU to show which one it is when you zoom in? Not a criticism at all, just an idea.

I have the app but when I followed the link there was nothing there to download, not sure if that is an ipad issue as I just did it on my work computer a couple days ago and it worked fine.

That's odd. I guess it's possible that it could be an Ipad issue. I just used my iphone but it worked fine and you think it would be the same.

Are you sure you have the Google Earth app and not just the google maps one?
Are you using the link in the first post?

When I click on the link there is an option to download a file (It's a KMZ file, not KML like I said in my last post). When I click on that, a new window opens up and there is a button that says "Open in Google Earth?".

Anyone that has Mapsource for Garmin, I have a WMU basemap that can be installed in Mapsource and upload to your Garmin device. The Map is only visable from 3km and closer any zoom out past and it does not show. Anywhere you place you gps pointer shows what WMU your in. Works good for the time I had to build it. My work on it some more and make a few tweaks. The link for the file is http://www.nsmillwright.ca/wmu/final%20WMU%202010.zip message me for password
