Portable shooting table?
There was a guy on here who used to make them? Anyone remember who he is?
If not....
Any portable store bought contraptions anyone recommends?

We have used Caldwell Stable Tables for shooting ground squirrels. They aren't as good as a concrete range bench, but are better than many of the wooden tables.

I use one of these portable saw horses with a folding chair to sit on.
I attached a 12" x 30"...3/4" piece a plywood to the saw horse surface for the platform....It is surprisingly stable....They often come on sale for under $20.

Certainly build one before I'd buy one, to suit my favorite chair heightwise, and the chair would also be adjustable heightwise. I have seen any that were long enough for my liking, they are a bot narrow too, fixed seats always seem to be set for midgets.

Folding sawhorses
Another vote for folding sawhorses. I have a nearly half sheet of 5/8 plywood for shooting base. Use milk crate to carry my sandbags and adjustsble front support. Turn upside down with old foam cushion and find this is exact height i need to shoot comfortably

My kids got me a Herter’s folding shooting table. I love it!
It has padding everywhere and…..a cup holder. It is an extremely stable platform. Also very comfortable to shoot off. It is a bit bulky and heavy. But when folded, it’s really not that difficult to carry about.
The pics above show a rather large and heavy rifle. The table accommodates it very well.
Did I mention it has a cup holder?!

That is plain awesome.
I have alot of permission on some gopher feilds and that may be the ticket for that situation
But i shoot on private land out to 600 yards wind protected and want something as well that it heavy and can leave there. With dad passing in january, and me getting all his tools like table saws etc. Might have to build one for this purpose

Just bought the one that 6MT has but with Cabelas name on it. It looks like it will work well. I bought it mostly for my grandkids as the benches at Milo in the short ranges are too big and not in good condition.
The cup holder and rest are really lame though. Not sure why the adjuster knob is on the swivel as it doesn’t tighten the swivel and the plastic adjuster for the rod doesn’t lock it well. Will be taking it off and use rest that I have.
Other than that for the price it is much better than I thought

Don Langkamp I think was on here. He is on AHA on FB. He has a YouTube channel called way to native chronicles. He emails out plans to make one from a single sheet of plywood. He just posted a video on his YouTube channel about it.

a pair of banquet table legs make for quick setup.
two pieces of 3/4 inch plywood to make the platform.
cut a long hole to make a carrying handle. (barely visible at top of pic )
Note: the legs are close together so one of the sets will not fold properly. To solve the issue, the left side of my bench has an extra thickness of plywood underneath. This puts the two sets of legs on different levels, which allows the legs to fold up nicely.

I made these during covid because our range was closed. Notice the splayed legs and recycled election signs (yes they were take after the election). The splayed legs make it very stable. Total cost for both was under 50 bucks in lumber.

I just picked up a Herter’s Folding table un - used off a different buy/sell. For $100. Things pretty solid! But still might have one made and use this for the gopher patch

I grabbed a couple of these at Costco for the gopher patch. If you drape a sandbag over the cross braces on end it's quite stable. They're a perfect height to use with the director style folding chairs. Nothing fancy, but light and practical. Doubles as my gun cleaning table as well, fulltime. My wife had an objection to me using the oak dining table. Go figure.

Haha. My wife has one for her spare art stuff. I gotta move paint stuff to put the gun vise on, then she's gotta move gun stuff for her paint. We really should buy another one, they damn handy!
