What a bizarre thread, anyways I am a long distance from Calgary and hunt only on my own land but I have noted a definite decrease in the number of grouse around. Being able to watch them around the place throughout the year gives me a pretty good indication of how many are around. I am just going to have to make my shots count as I hunt them with .22 shorts without a dog.

ANYWAYS

Yeah I'm not so sure about that trunk road. Hit it again this morning, didn't see or hear anything... Seriously I easily went a couple kms off the road in several spots... hmmmm. Not so sure about all this. I'm willing to put in work here but there's gotta be a paycheque somewhere...
You should quit now. It's obviously too hard for you.

Don't just resort to walking roads an trails, chances are someone has already gone through it.
Two weeks ago I was following a game/cattle trail in kananaskis. For 17-18km of hiking I saw about dozen spruce grouse all together, all were out and about without care in the world. I swear I could have snatched one off of a branch with bare hands. They certainly are not shy.

Any clearing that sun can get through adjacent to water and some dead fall lying around will produce chickens.

Park your truck and start walking, I don't hunt but do a lot of walking in the area.

I may be clueless when it comes to hunting but when somebody is out to get me I can smell it from further away than a shark can smell blood in the water.

Thanks for so quickly letting me know what this scene is all about,

Time to go now.
Quit now if you cant hack it. Diabetic kripple has always been helpful.
Your shark to blood sense is messed up.
