Default Which Pheasant Release Site?

Morning Gents,

Took this Friday off to go Pheasant Hunting.

This will be my first time. Very Excited.

Any recommendations on which Pheasant Release Site would be most user friendly for a new guy?

Also, any recommendations for shot load? I was thinking 2 3/4 steel shot 1 1/8 #4? Will be using a Lakefield Mossberg 400g 12 gauge.

Thanks for any help!

Dave

No need for steel , lead is legal #4's or 6's .
Where are you located and do you have a dog?
Cat

Hopewell is good, but can get busy on weekends. You should be OK on Friday.

Decent amount of variation of terrain and grasses/shrubs/cattails, so good habitat.

Namaka Lake is also good, but releases don't start until Oct 15th.

AO should make it a rule that a general location is mandatory...
.. anyways, good luck on your pheasant hunt. I hope they open up some more release sites in southern AB. soon. Having a dog is great, but not essential. Walk slow, and stop often and looooooong. They will freeze when you walk up but they are too nervous to stay still long. listen for the rustle.
If it's raining, then forget the rustle, walk fast, flush one, then chase it down. lol
