Default Fishing in Jumping Pound Creek (Cochrane)

Has anyone every fished jumping pound near Cochrane. It is suppost to have some pretty nice trout in it (Runs into the bow). Is there any other access points for parking other than the bridge that crosses at the very end of the creek.

Thanks

Be aware that creek bottom is owned in this creek. If you walk up the creek in the wrong area you are trespassing.

Not so sure if that is true. Lots of hearsay on this but no proof. Personally I think there is just a couple of Bullies on the strech of river in question.

thanks for the reply. Does anyone know where these so called angry property owners are located on the creek. We would be ok to start at the bridge and walk down the creek a little ways.

The Copithorne's...big time issues back in the 90's when I was a kid! Intimidation tactics were huge frickin ranch hands and huge fricken dogs. Awsome fishing though, lots of 12" Trout with the odd 18"+ here and there!

Perhaps a phone call or a knock on the door beforehand would solve this. If the creek is considered navigable (even by canoe) doesnt that make it Federal property?

Huge ranch, no idea where the house was! I believe 15-16km of Jumpingpound creek flows through that ranch and I never once crossed there land always stuck to the river. Most of the time your hidden by the landscape or trees but one area is wide open and there cattle would come down and drink...that's the place where I got some friction! As I said it was a long time ago and back then they the ranch owners and staff had a bit of a well earned reputation, maybe things have changed!!

I fish it just upstream and downstream of the TC Hwy Bridge.

Caught a 14" Brook Trout this afternoon.

You could always go to the Alberta Land Titles office and pull surface title. I would confirm in case anyone questioned you.
