Default Whitefish going yet?

Anybody feeding the whitefish yet this fall? Went out a few times but they seemed slow so far. (On the Red Deer)

A few starting to go but it seems this was about the time last year it was madness. Only time will tell, some years it's just slow.

My cousin and a friend headed down there two days ago sounds like royal coachman and back swimmers were working well for them. I will have to ask where and what again he was using.

What did you use Royal Coachman flies? It's been a long time since I went fishing for whitefish in the Bow, does a fly on a line with split shot bouncing near bottom still work?

I was at Bowness Park for the first time in forty years. While the wife was at the Foothills for a course I went down to the river to check it out. The first three casts off the rock piles nailed three Whitey's. I was using a San Juan Worm and it was steady for three hours of fishing and approx. 20 Whitefish / 0 Trout.

Any of the rivers you cant go wrong running a big indicator with a nymph, coachmen, and then a SJW.

Hey Tundra,

When you say big indicator do you mean the bobber style indicators or with a large dry? (ex hopper pattern) I've never caught a rocky white and thinking about a day trip.

FP, yes I mean the bobber style indicator. The one you slide your leader through and plug the hole with a tootpick. Let them bounce their way down, any movement set the hook.
